Dear Editor,

In the days before we invaded Iraq, The White House portrayed a very clear picture of the horrors of Weapons of Mass Destruction that would be unleashed upon us by Saddam. We were told of torture and brutality being inflicted by Saddam's regime upon his own people. We had to invade in order to bring democracy and freedom to the Iraqi people.

A year later, we still haven't found the Weapons of Mass Destruction and the battle to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi's isn't a cake walk. However, what we have found is that we can be just as bad as Saddam.

Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity (et al) are dismissing the reports of Iraqi Prisoner "abuse" as being akin to a fraternity prank, that our troops were just blowing off steam. If these prisoners were Americans being held by Iraqi guards and being similarly treated - would Limbaugh and Hannity also dismiss this as an innocent prank?

We are suppose to be Americans, we are suppose to be setting an example of Democracy and Freedom, we are suppose to be compassionate and we are suppose to know better

Last paragraph, each instance of 'suppose' should be 'supposed' instead.

Also, in the second paragraph I'd say "those" instead of "the" Weapons of Mass Destruction. Brings it subtly back to the point that the only wmd's are the ones in Bush's lie.

There a a couple of things I would change but they are mostly a matter of preference.

5. how about adding...

something about not scapegoating the lowly enlisted men, and ask for a complete independent investigation. Maybe point out this irony - when Saddam's troops tortured prisoners, it was Saddam's fault but when Bush's troops torture prisoners, it is the soldiers' fault. But I really like dragging Rush and Hannity out from under their rocks and exposing their spewing to the light of day.

"Yet the evidence shows we are dangerously close to becoming the very thing we claim to hate."
