Bush not campaigning like the incumbent
Has anyone noticed that all the shrubs commercials and stump speeches are nothing more than attack ads? It would seem that after three years in the WH that he could campaign on his record of accomplishments. Hmmmmmmm....... Are there no accomplishments worthy of mention? Hmmmmmm......... I can draw only one conclusion, there are none. Very sad.

16. I don't know . . .
Seems like yesterday he was saying in Michigan that we are "Safer, Better and Stronger" because of his administration.

If I'd been eating, I would have choked! Can he be serious?

He also said Iraq was better now, too, because of us.

2. I posted this yesterday
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=1521441&mesg_id=1521441

It says basically that he's running on what he's planning on doing, not what he's already done.

Now that sure sounds like a winning campaign, doesn't it?

4. That's all he EVER runs
on is attack ads. He did it when he ran for governor, in 2000, and especially now. It's a pattern with him, 'cause he's incompetent as a leader.

5. Why should he?
To be incumbent he would have had to have been ELECTED first!

6. You can be sure if it was Gore the media would be pointing this out
It is really criminal the way the media gives him a pass on EVERYTHING!...They would have talking heads all over the place pointing out the fact that he had no accomplishments to brag about, if the president were Gore....Disgusting!

9. phase one: demonize the enemy
rove's plan is to take away kerry's natural advantages. trivialize or confuse his vietnam service, make his voting record (which is pretty typical for a dem or moderate repub) look like business as usual beltway bullshit.

make any support of kerry half-hearted & reluctant; well, i don't like kerry much, but i have no other choice. step one in convincing the swing voters to vote against their best interests.

Notice the emphasis on bush's resolve, his belief, how never changing your mind is a virtue.

Noe see the bush slogan: Yes, America Can! Positive, but meaningless. Force Kerry to the negative. Rove will switch to upbeat, flag waving & tut tut "negative campaining" after engaging in it up to the convention.

Kerry better be stocking his arsenal & resting up these last months. And they better have a plan better than "i have medals" - bush is landing body blows in the RW media every day.

10. Bush is not running on his record
This is very weird. Bush is running like he has no record or accomplishments that he is proud of and instead want to attack Senator Kerry.

12. But the real irony is, he has nothing to attack Kerry WITH!!!
Edited on Tue May-04-04 11:43 AM by rocknation
Kerry's a flip-flopper? Bush is an even bigger one. Kerry's a disloyal soldier? Bush is a deserter and has yet to prove otherwise. Kerry's doesn't have what it takes to be commander in chief? Bush is up to his neck in undersupplied and overextended troops, prisoner abuse, profiteering, mercenaries, diverted funds, reneging allies, outed CIA agents, and lies about the reason why he wanted war in the first place. The ONLY thing he has going for him now is a compliant, rubber-stamping mainstream media. But if they start to look as lacking in competence, character, and credibility as Bush does, they'll have to bail out, too.

13. Bush has all the votes he's going to get. The only question now...
is how many Kerry voters he can convince to stay home - or vote for Nader.

14. so uninspired
the ad that really peeves me is the one about Kerry raising gas taxes. It seems to me in their simplistic way, BushCo is trying to attach Kerry's name to TODAY'S high gas prices--when he has nothing to do with it. The ad attempts to strike fear of higher gas prices, while at the same time ignoring the fact that this "administration" is responsible for the record-setting high gas prices of today. Sickening.just sickening

15. Thanks for pointing this out
I didn't think about that. It's really weird though, and very telling about his lack of accomplishments.

And how ironic that he's not really running as an incumbent, since he isn't really the president anyway. :P
