4. Yes, seems strange,
I can see that Cuba probably isn't great for journalists but it's not a warzone.

10. Some people are stupid enought to believe cuba is worse
than Iran or Saudi arabia or North korea or China or 100 other countries. Only difference is we are trying to overthrow castro at the moment.

8. Ir just waving the "ENEMIES AT THE GATE" flag, trying to pretend
that since they're so CLOSE they present a threat.

Could have something to do with a pending attempted regime change when castro dies soon though.

Anyone heard how his health is?

6. Wanna Bet Havana Is Safer Than Miami?
We know no monkey will take the bait on that one. Hell, if I were a journalist, I'd love taking a post in Cuba...especially right now. Besides enjoying beautiful weather and a city rich in history and culture, it's also about to begin big changes...Castro's days will end soon and it will mean a different Cuba. Not sure what it will be, but it won't be the one we've known for the past 40 years...thus the interest in capturing a portrait now.

Now Pakistan wasn't on that list? Anyone remember Danny Pearl? How about Mexico, where journalists covering drug stories have been known to just "vanish". And I'll bet we could compile one large list of countries where Americans are looked down on...or with less respect than they had in the past. And we know who to blame for that!

Was it cranky Jack playing his games again? Of all places, CNN was a trailblazer in opening up Cuba to American media. Is the kool-aid drinking getting that bad at the place?

7. I turned the teevee and radio OFF 2 years ago. No newspapers, no
teevee, no radio.

I rely 10000% on the internet for my news, and largely, here. I check headlines at Newshub.com and a couple other non-partisan, non-political sites, mostly yahoo, and use the teevee JUST for entertainment.

Things are much better now.

9. Cuba?
I know people that have been to Cuba for vacation and they think of the place as extremely safe. Yes, being a reporter is different... but, I am sure Iraq, Afghanistan and a few other places are quite a bit worse.
