"neo-con" on Diane Rheams show

I am listening to the Diane Rheams (spelling??) show this morning - she is a very fair talk show host who does a "week in review" every Friday.

There was just a discussion that centered on "neo-cons" and how they were responsible for Powell having to resign.

The reason I mention this is that "Bush as Neo-Con" might be a good way to peel away some of his republican support.

People need short-hand to understand things. Bush as Neo-Con lets people understand - the bush destruction of our economy, the bush invasion of iraq, the bush trashing of our constitution.

It might be hard for good old republicans to accept that a real republican would do these things - and thus they haven't happened.

It migth be easier for a good old republican to realize that a neo-con pretending to be a republican hijacked the presidency and is doing all these things.

The trick is to find a way for them to hate bush while still being good republicans. SHowing that bush isn't a republican, but a neo-con might be the way.

2. I find the best tactic in dealing with republicans

is to point out how Bush differs from their perceptions of what the republican party stands for (ie. the current admin is pro big-govt, not fiscally responsible, etc.) Alot of republicans think of themselves as libertarians at heart, so to point this out to them usually makes them backtrack on their support for W. At least thats what ive noticed when i point it out.

Any American, conservative or not, should be horrified that Bush takes advice from men like Richard Perle, who should be described as a foreign agent, or at least a double agent, advising the US while advocating positions for Israel.
