So I know what Bu$h did on the morning of 9-11
which was basically sit there and play dumb.

But what did Cheney do? I've never heard a full account of what he did and when.

Where was he when the first plane hit and how did he react?

Was Cheney already in the WH Situation Room that morning running a war game that was simulating an attack with a plane on the Pentagon?

Who else was with Cheney that morning in the Situation Room?

What about Richard Clarke's testimony, about Lynn Cheney interfering with the response to an ongoing terrorist attack? And why was she even allowed into the WH Situation Room?

What did Cheney and Condi tell the pResident and when did they tell him?

If we want to know what went wrong on 9-11, that allowed not one but three passenger jets to hit their targets, we must find out what happened in that room that morning and today is finally our big chance. However, the 9-11 Cover-up Commission has allowed this thing to turn into a circus and Cheney will slyly slink away into the shadows, while everyone is focusing on W.

2. Play dumb?
"which was basically sit there and play dumb."

Our shrubster doesn't ever have to "play" dumb. He just has to show up. The dumb part happens without any effort.

bush had no idea what to do or when to do it. He sat there until someone gave him an order to follow.

3. I remember Cheney giving an account
on MTP with Timm Russert.

He wasn't actually in the Situation room, he was in the "bunker".

He was on the phone with Shrub (occassionally)and according to exerpts from Clarke's book, in almost constant contact with Clarke in the situation room.

Something about that interview which has stuck with me for quite a while: Cheney said that he "recommended" that Bush give the order to shoot down any stray airliners and Bush agreed with him. Russert never asked the $1 Million question: Just exactly WHEN did you "recommend" and Dubya agree?????

I haven't read that part of Clarke's book yet so I don't know what role (if any) Clarke played in that. There are others here who are much more familiar with the events of September 11 and the roles played by each actor, but I remember that interview distinctly.

Jump in with your information, even if it refutes mine.......

7. In Clarke's book
he tells a troubling account of the situation in the Situation Room. He claims that everytime he tried to talk to Cheney, someone would hang up the phone. Also, that Lynn Cheney kept screaming and trying to turn up the sound on CNN, so she could listen to the news?

8. True
I've read that excerpt also.

My biggest question has always been: When did Cheney suggest, and Bush agree to shoot down airliners?

4. Cheney was in his office watching TV
according to this account:

http://www.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/09/11/ar911.king.cheney/

So let's say you're Cheney and you hear about a plane hitting the WTC. Do you turn on the TV to get the scoop, or check with the White House Situation Room with its network of information gathering systems?

So Cheney was watching TV until the Secret Service came in and forced him to go to the bunker.

Cheney, like Bush and Rumsfeld, wasn't too concerned. Just going about their business. Not seeking the best available news source. Playing like they just couldn't imagine what was up.

They were both clueless. In Condi's words, nobody told them to DO anything...

6. That's pretty close to the official story
Edited on Thu Apr-29-04 08:52 AM by DoYouEverWonder
where Cheney claimed the SS picked him up off the ground and wisked him to the secure WH bunker/situation room. I would assume they are both the same place?

However, I've seen reports that Cheney was already in the Situation Room running a simulation of an attack?

Either way we still know hardly anything about what Cheney did or didn't do during the next couple of crucial hours.

BTW: Thaanks for the link. I've never seent this picture before. Anyone have any idea who some of the people that are in it? There's Cheney, Karen, Condi, and Mary but who are the others?
