Imus on calling Bush* a War Criminal
Reporting 8 soldiers dead in Baghdad. Shaking his head, saying "for what? for what?"

Between Imus and Stern, the landscape is shifting.

15. He is a self serving oportunist
He will say whatever is necessary to inflate his ratings. He hammered Clinton, after helping him get elected.

He is a pure whore, that he is now taking this stance, does not speak well for Bush.

6. It is a disaster
With all of the problems the Republicans have right now, Kerry should be gaining in the polls, should have a loud, highly articulated message, and should have a message that gives people something to be hopeful for and to believe in.

Kerry has been largely absent from the stage for several weeks now, other than as a punching bag for the Republicans.

Perhaps the campaign strategy is to hoard their resources until the final lap, and not pull a Howard Dean by peaking too early. I don't know.

But if a Democrat cannot win against this repulsive regime, in these horrific times, when can a Democrat win?

The repukes have to be pleased that they managed to get a rise in the polls given all of the bad news this President and his administration have given this country lately. If Kerry can't gain ground in this climate, how will he gain if the news cycle turns less negative, or even worse, positive for Bush?

The Republican pool of money is inexhaustable. 500 million is chump change to the people that run this government. They will have to spend it lavishly to counter the bad news, and they will. And they probably only need 250 million to finish out their campaign.

25. They haven't gained ground
TruthIsAll keeps putting up new poll numbers - Kerry's still leading in 7 out of 12 polls.

The Republican pool of money is inexhaustable.

Not so. There are a finite number of people who can donate $2,000. And most of Bush's donors did so all at once. He's blowing through his wad, and he can't replenish it till after the convention (late convention works to our advantage).

Meanwhile, Kerry's riding the bad news and raising huge sums of cash from small donors.

29. The money is virtually inexhaustible
How much free press and media coverage will he get?

How many more taxpayer funded campaign trips will he make, which all will get heavy coverage in the media, while Kerry is ignored by these same outlets?

How much PAC money will he get?

How many imaginary people will contribute $2000?

How many dead people will contribute $2000?

How many children will contribute $2000?

How many democrats (unknowingly) contribute $2000 when their name is surrepetitiously assigned?

How many companies are giving trusted (as in hard line Republican) employees $2000 with instruction to give it to the RNC?

Really, who monitors these contributions? Without strong oversight and tight accounting controls with an active accounting practice, detection of these frauds is highly unlikely.

And why would anyone expect tight accounting controls from any US accounting firm, which have proven their metal with the likes of Enron, Worldcom, and others?

while Kerry's bucks jumped to 50 mill and climbing. BTW: You look at the CBS poll today and a few others... If you keep harping on polls like CNN then you might miss the big picture...Or is your intention to only post the negative?

34. Well, I'm not a Republican
So I am not going to report happy news about how shiny my shoes are if I am standing in a pile of chickenhawk shit.

If you think the big picture is that Bush is running out of money and will collapse before the finish line, while Kerry breezes through, then fine. I disagree with that.

Attacking me because you don't like my message won't change my mind, different facts will.

and I never said that Bush would run out of money... Let's see...you discount the good news in the polls today for Kerry and you discount that Kerry has almost caught up to Bush in Money.... So...how about some positive news rather than the bleak shit you keep posting? Unless of course you're quite happy being negative!

keeping all eyes fixated on the criminal duo allowed to testify unoathed

23. I agree.
I think Kerry has employed a rope-a-dope strategy designed to allow Shrub to burn himself out now when the stakes are not as high as they will be in September. And it seems to be working. Shrub is spending his campaign cash as wrecklessly as he spends our tax money, and with just as little effect. Besides, no campaign could do as much damage as what Shrub is doing to his little old self.

Now if Kerry will just pick Edwards for his VP...

26. Great news.
*Bush Inc has been getting it from all sides this week.

And as for Kerry laying low, I think it is smart as hell.

I saw a quote in another thread once that went something like, 'Why murder your opponent while he is committing suicide?'

I could not agree more.

Right now many, many, people are not at all interested in getting to know John Kerry.

They are just getting to know *Bush.

And that my friends, is going to take them some time to get over.

And there is plenty of time for John Kerry to get his message out in a positive manner.

Just my 2 cents.

Saddam is now looking like a saint by most standards
The "ceasefire/massacre" in Fallujah; the rape and torture of prisoners in Abu Ghraib and other prisons in Iraq. Only "God/Bush" knows whats going on in Guantonamo Bay???

While 50% of Americans sponsor these activities, the other 50% are content to blame "this Administration". At some point we have to ask ourselves -- Is attributing blame really enough?

31. Imus Makes Me Leery
I listen to him every morning for about 40 minutes. He definitely blasts the administration and is very angry about the deaths of our armed forces. I listen to him because of his guests and to hear what the other side is saying.

Yes, he calls Kerry "his guy" but --- in a wishy washy way. Sometimes he says, for now - I could change my mind. I think he does it more for discussion among his group - since so many others are solid supporters for Bush (although Charles commented this morning that the story about LNG tankers in Boston/Algerians being smuggled abroad validates Clarke's statements about the LNG tankers -- which the Bush adminstration denied when Clarke's book came out).

More telling - In the last week, not sure what day, Imus also predicted that "his guy" would lose to Bush by 6-7 points. So, he is not very supportive.
