When was the last time you heard the word "Peace"
It seems to have fallen out of the English language.
Last week I heard General Kimmitt in Iraq saying that we have to "Pacify" the uprising in Fallujah...by bombing the shit out them.

We have fallen into an Israeli/Palestinian pattern here. Every time we kill an innocent there we are creating a generation of hate that is going to fester and cause more violence.

1. Kerry said it yesterday
In his Hardball interview, Kerry said the administration had been warned that winning the "war" in Iraq might be easy, but winning the *peace* would not be.

3. The Bush Administration isn't Geared up for Peace
They either never thought it would be that hard (despite being warned of the dangers) or they didn't give a damn, so long as they got the oil. Look at how well they've rebuilt Afghanistan.

A lot of freepers mocked the concerns over rioting and the destruction of priceless antiquities; but that created a pattern, didn't it? It said that the United States didn't care about maintaining the peace, so long as they weren't threatened. The inability to rebuild Iraq's infrastructure has also created enormous problems.

2. "What you think,
you become." - Gandhi. I hear the word peace every day. I say the word "peace" every day. You are correct that words have power ... and that we should use great care to select and use the words with the power to define the world we wish for. Because, indeed, we say that which we think, and what we think, we become. Peace!

4. Good point.
Media does not care...they are getting viewers, screw the reality. Fallujah burns, innocents die and we broadcast with no dissent. SOS from the great "leaders".

5. I think a guy from Arkansas was president then
You know ... big guy, always smiling, liked people, had a weakness for pretty women ... the conservatives hated him, of course ...

Won't you come home, Bill Clinton
Won't you come home?
We know we done you wrong ...
