NPR: Hiroshima type demoralization tactics in Falluja ????
Will post audio link when available. Guest commentator said that while nuclear weapons are not being used, (wow, that makes me feel better) the current tactics being used in Falluja may be seen by the military as the only way of combating "the tribal eye-for-an-eye" mentality of the Sunnis in Falluja.

Perhaps this is why women and children were allowed back in?

Correct me if I'm wrong but, if that is indeed what they are doing, is this the first time since Hiroshima/Nagasaki/Dresden that this type of "cause massive civilian death on purpose" tactics have been used by the US? Excuse me while I become ill :puke:

1. some of the non nuclear bombs are capable of doing almost as much damage
as the smaller nuclear bomb that was dropped on Japan.

3. Vonnegut has often said that the most disturbing thing about WWII....
was not the atomic bomb, but rather the idea that killing civilians can be used to advance military goals. He cleaned up after Dresden....

4. I heard it
and could hardly believe they could even be having such a discussion.
Basically the gist of it, 'of course the army couldn't really do that, but do you think it would work?'

disgusting..
They have fallen so far one has to wonder if redemption is even an option anymore.

Q: But would Hiroshima type tactics work?

A: I've talked to military men who hope it will have that effect. It may work the short term, but it will radicalize the towns neighboring Falluja ...

6. Kerry, "we committed atrocities", Bush, "we're bringing democracy"
I think Bush is responsible for more deaths do to committing atrocities than Kerry is.

Bush is going to bring the Iraqis democracy if he has to kill them all to do it.

Bush, "You people will begin to welcome us with open arms or we are going to blow you away." "By the way, can you guys make us some WMD's while you at it?"

8. The fire bombings of Tokyo
and Dresden probably killed as many civilians as the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bombs were truly terrible, but conventional warfare is capable of killing vast numbers also.
