Bush's Big Military Briefing--all he wanted was the mints....oh boy
Read a few chapters of Woodward's book at Border's today. Described the first military briefing to Pres-elect Bush and VP Cheney and the presumptive Sec. of State, Powell. It took place in the "Tank". The generals were gathered to brief the new adminstration of what the hell is up or down in this world.

Book said that Cheney kept falling asleep and Powell kept shouting for them to "speak up". Afterwards the generals remarked that they got off to a great start--VP asleep and the Sec. of State can't hear. But Junior's performance was the best.

He is described as walking cockey into the room with arms swinging (we've seen that before). They had a "mint" placed at every place around the table. Bush sat down and opend and popped his into his mouth. As the briefing went on, Bush was seen eyeing Cohen's mint and, thus Cohen gave it to him. Few minutes later, Bush wanted Sheldon's mint and Sheldon gave it to him ...and on and on. Bush wanted the candy. He never made any comments. Now, Mr. Woodward, please explain to me again about how Bush is so in charge?!?!?!?

5. Ah goclark, there you have it!
Something tells me all the time that Smirky is still drinking. He does look drunk most of the time, and when he doesn't look drunk, he looks hungover.
However, I was wondering how come the press and other people don't seem to be smelling Old Pal Jack Daniels on his breath.

THE MINTS. Here is the answer. Thanks goclark! makes perfect sense...

10. Most drunks think mints will do the trick

but they really don't.

However, I was thinking about another clue that points to his hitting my favorite Jack Daniels again. He should have been listening to the conversation around the table. But - he decided to go on a frantic " Mint Search."

That search technique proves that he had a total lack of care or focus on the meeting. Our fearless "leader" had his mind on two things.
#1 How many mints could he find?

#2 How fast could he visit his friend JACK again?

4. Perhaps it was a message from above...
God told him to eat all of the mints because they're not quite as 'hazardous' as pretzels.

7. This is just TOO GOOD!
How come the press is missing this one?

This paints a true picture of the man..........

along with O'Neills book
along with Clarke's book
along with OTHER passages from Woodward's book

too many "muddy footprints" to cover up...the man is a disgrace!

8. There is absolutely no reason to believe
that * is as Woodward portrayed him. Never, in anything else I've ever read, is * said to be a hands-on, intelligent, capable businessman. Even if you go way back to the various businesses Poppy set him up in, he's shown himself to be a doofus who's just surfed through life on Daddy's rolodex. At one point he was on the Carlyle's board, but it was suggested that he leave because he never contributed anything to any discussion, and just pocketed the checks. That's when he turned to baseball, where maybe he should have stayed.

9. ah, it's that 13-year-old boy in him ...

"Reporters covering the Bush campaign observed George W.'s diet as "largely that of a 13-year-old boy," citing his preference for cheese and bologna with mayo on white bread, PBJs, tacos and enchiladas. "He eats popcorn by trying to stuff more into his mouth than will fit so that crumbs cascade down his front. He pops peanuts one at a time, while clutching a handful," one reporter noted."

http://www.salon.com/books/review/2002/03/04/bruni/
"Perhaps more disturbing, Bruni also paints a man who is astonishingly shallow and unreflective. Riffing after the election about his upcoming presidency, Bush can't get beyond his genuine fascination with the White House mess hall: "The dessert menu is unbelievable ... esterday at the Blair House we had this, I'm not even sure, coffee ice cream surrounded by this unbelievable meringue, beautiful meringue." And Bruni informs us that well into his first year in office Bush is "still raving about ... little red button in the private dining room off the Oval Office that he could use to summon the butler." It's Bush as the Tom Hanks character in "Big.""

p.s. how many times has he "given up sweets" since entering office? At least twice that I've heard ... once, after going to war (apparently to portray himself as tough and abstemious) ... and again this year, because he was gaining weight due to his bad knees interfering with his workouts.

12. Damn,that's disgusting
But what's even MORE disgusting is the college educated professionals that think he's the greatest. Are they really that naive to not see this idiot for what he really is? He's like a back woods hick.....no manners,no class and dumb as a bag of rocks. :puke:

11. A caller to C-Span WJ the other day put it very well.
He said: are we to believe this overall picture Woodward is trying to peddle of Bush or what about the actual interview with Russert where he couldn't answer shit?? I think Woodward got sold a real bill of goods. If he was this decisive then why couldn't he answer crap to Russert....or crap in his great press conference?? Something doesn't add up here.
