"The closest thing Bush has to a ribbon on his chest...
"The closest thing Bush has to a ribbon on his chest is a Pabst Blue Ribbon" I know it sounds stupid, but what's it gonna take for kerry to get tough?

1. Like this?
WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) on Monday rejected questions over his claim to have thrown away his Navy medals in protest of the Vietnam War, contending they came from President Bush (news - web sites) and the GOP even though they "can't even answer whether or not he showed up for duty in the National Guard."

2. Obviously you are missing Kerry being tough-here's his response
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4836412/

Kerry denied Monday that his statements have been inconsistent. He said ribbons were often referred to as medals.

'Interchangeable' awards
“Back then ribbons, medals were absolutely interchangeable,” Kerry told “Good Morning America” on ABC. “The U.S. Navy pamphlet calls them medals. We all referred to them as the symbols they were representing. Medals, ribbons ... countless veterans threw the ribbons back.”

'Not going to stand for it'
Kerry told ABC: “The Republicans have spent $60 million in the last few weeks trying to attack me. And this comes from a president and a Republican Party that can’t even answer whether or not he showed up for duty in the National Guard. I’m not going to stand for it.”

The anti-Bush political group MoveOn PAC released a 60-second television ad Monday comparing Kerry’s service in Vietnam to President Bush’s record with the Texas Air National Guard. Bush has been criticized for being unable to account for some periods of his Guard service.

“This election is about character,” the ad concludes. “It’s between John Kerry, who left no man behind ... and George W. Bush, who simply left.”

The group is spending a small amount — $115,000 — to run the ad nationally on Fox News Channel and on CNN in Washington, D.C., and New York City media markets.

NOTICE THAT THE AD IS RUNNING ON FOX!

3. That's what I want to see
That is an appropriately "measured" response.

Kerry should have used *'s biggest word in his vocabulary and said that he is "troubled" by all of the mis-information coming out of the GOP right now - that would have been a great dovetail into his response.

Take the fight to them JFK!

11. I'm afraid "measured" is gonna cost Kerry.
Bush is ahead, his ads are working. How could this be? I think we all agree bush has F****D up everything he's touched, so with that in mind-

HOW THE HELL CAN HE BE OUT-POLLING JFK?

Bush's approval ratings should be in the crapper.

6. Like most conservatives, they will do ANYTHING for money
So what if they support Bush. Pay them enough and they will run a 30 second ad.

Most "true" conservatives would push their mothers down a flight of stairs for twenty dollars.

9. Fox fights in the trenches
of its regular reporting to spin and slant this against Kerry. That is their way of "balancing" their need to take the ads. It would be like Bush buying ads in The Nation.

Should Fox try to bar the ads they would have pushed their credibility well past the breaking point- in a losing cause that could cost Murdoch plenty in the future.

8. That's cool and all, but...
You've got Slim Cheney out there saying Kerry is unfit to be the Commander in Chief, You've got "vietnam vets against kerry" attacking him, along with a whole host of vicious surrogates. Where's kerry's guys? I think he needs a VP candidate, and soon..who agrees with that part at least?

14. I've seen a lot of people SUPPORTING him and Kerry, especially
lately, using all that campaign money to not only let people know what he believes but have spokesman that are fighting back on the BS. Maybe it's the half-empty versus half-full glass? Perhaps you are dooming him to "failure" because you're not paying attention?

I don't think Kerry has to name a candidate yet, he hasn't even officially gotten the nod from the Dem convention. It's been good to see so many instances in the last week of him speaking up to correct the record while not stooping to the same low, dirty tricks of Mr. Sneer.
