Should we go "la...lah...la...lah?" Plugging our ears to Cable Media? or..
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 06:38 PM by KoKo01
take it in "small doses." Just report aggregious behavior so that DU'ers understand what the American "followers/sheeple" watch?

Or, should we cancel the "cable" and just do the internet for news.

Which is better for "mental health?"

I'm doing "a little cable" with big doses of foreign newspapers, Dem Bloggers and of course DU which is the best place for LBN and links to articles.

BUT...don't we also need to have some DU'ers who "DO WATCH" the Cables to let us know what the "average American" is getting dosed with?

(Posting this because I got "flamed" for reporting negative stuff about Dems here which I got from my "lunchtime view" of CNN.) I only tune in at Lunch to CNN, and "spot hit" here and there through MSNBC/CNBC and Dobbs/Tweety/Crossfire whores, to give you all a sense of what "I find" OUTRAGEOUS.

Should we folks who still have Cable even bother? Don't folks who don't have cable have a right to know what THE MEDIA is reporting?

How do we keep a balance so that it doesn't look like "negative posts" when we try to tell you what the "whore media" are doing?

1. I restrict myself to very small doses.
I allow myself to watch the Daily Show and Bill Maher. Permitting me a few minutes of Faux News is to dangerous for electronic devices in the home if I something to throw handy. I have my Sirius Left and Air America (Sirius unit) always handy -- better to allow me to listen to the radio with a few minutes of light jazz now and again. Keep calm! Keep calm!

2. Yes, please continue...
...I only have basic cable (16 channels, including 2 Spanish and 4 religious) so I can get high speed internet. I've seen DUers who monitor Drudge and Freeperville...at least if you keep us informed via cable, we aren't upping the hit count of the internet sites.

3. I get even less for the same reason (I get 9 total). And I agree.
I want to know what they are saying. Know your enemy.

4. Thanks you 3! Re-reading my post...I wonder if anyone will understand

where I'm coming from, here.

I think what I was trying to say which you all got to, was if we "see it in the media" should we report it? Or should we not report and remain silent because we know the media are liars.

But, if we "don't" report what most Americans are seeing, then aren't we being false and as fake and censoring as they are?

I don't know..

5. I have programmed all cable news channels OUT of my remote.
I have cancer and I don't want to jeopardize my health -- mental as well as physical -- any further. I get The Word strictly from the internet, and I am the better for it. To hell with CNN and FAUX and MSRNC.

6. The day starts with the court jesters on Murdoch, GE, and TW/AOL...
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 07:07 PM by higher class
jokesters who might as well be playing an insturment and dancing in their tights and a hat with bells on the tips....

followed by beautiful women and not so beautiful men who deliver the gravest of news with a lilt in the voice and a smile on the face....

followed by serious and earnest parrot propagandist proseltizers....

it fills our days and nights, doesn't it?

What we need to do, we're already doing - relying on foreign news for the latest breaking because we know that the news on Murdoch, GE, and TW/AOL has to be vetted and edited through the right wing news police first and sometimes it takes two days to reach us.

8. Cut the cable now
You will benefit your mental health, help starve the Media Borg, and have extra cash on hand to donate to the candidate of your choice.

That's a Frikkin Trifecta !

9. I'm sorry if you were "flamed" for reporting on cable news --
The power of media cannot be underestimated, and has served Bush and the conservative right well. Cable news is one of the worst offenders. I don't watch Fox, but I do watch CNN and MSNBC, to see events as they happen, and I call frequently with complaints about their coverage. If news outlets don't ever hear from our side, they'll only get worse, and their influence more toxic. I don't believe in a head-in-the-sand attitude.
