3. It's only becoming a bigger story
than it was. Firing the woman who took the photos was a bad decision. Firing her husband was a worse one.

13. And NOT showing the returning coffins
is a *decision made in Hades. Such disrespect and blatant manipulation. The People need to be aware of the cost in blood and treasure of this war and the other sordid misadventures of this *malodoradminstration.
Informed, rather than manufactured consent.

*dimwit dauphin dress-up doll, his entire family and their assorted faux elite cronies are the slimiest of murderous, thieving criminals who have been killing and stealing on a massive scale FOR DECADES. C'mon kids, WHAT is not to get here? We need a clean installation of a "collective spirit and brain" upgrade. Technological advances so outpace our ability to DEAL WITH THEM in a way that supports our "common good."

Wer kann nicht über sein Teller sehen sterbt.

I REALLY LIKED the idea of millions delivering coffins to the WH lawn.
Wha hoppen to dat??? Can I get a witness? What's going on?

Way back in the wayback when my generation was being slaughtered in VN, we dressed in black and lay down around the fountain at Lincoln Center in neat rows. It was a simple action by a bunch of elite artsy-fartsy types... IT GOT LOTS OF INK.

Amis need a visual. We're talking the Sesame Street quick-cut generation. Y'all NEED TO SEE THI PIX of what's going on.

32. Actually, that would make a chilling campaign advertisement
for Kerry. A split screen with Bush goofing around looking for weapons of mass destruction under a couch juxaposed next to the photo of the cargo hold of the plane that posssess the remains of the fallen. The narrator can state something like "What was our president doing when the young men and women of this country sacrificed their lives. Do you trust him with your future?" End the add with laughter from Bush.

OOO it make me mad just to think about those pictures. How can Bush look himself in the mirror. God bless their souls.

I raised this last year but was shouted down. Can some explain the logic of Clinton changing policy when there was no war?

28. Need more info on Nov. 2000 policy change
In March, on the eve of the Iraq war, a directive arrived from the Pentagon at U.S. military bases. "There will be no arrival ceremonies for, or media coverage of, deceased military personnel returning to or departing from Ramstein airbase or Dover base, to include interim stops," the Defense Department said, referring to the major ports for the returning remains.

A Pentagon spokeswoman said the military-wide policy actually dates from about November 2000 — the last days of the Clinton administration — but it apparently went unheeded and unenforced, as images of caskets returning from the Afghanistan war appeared on television broadcasts and in newspapers until early this year. Though Dover Air Force Base, which has the military's largest mortuary, has had restrictions for 12 years, others "may not have been familiar with the policy," the spokeswoman said. This year, "we've really tried to enforce it."

29. I honestly don't know
From the article it says: but it apparently went unheeded and unenforced, as images of caskets returning from the Afghanistan war appeared on television broadcasts and in newspapers until early this year

And later on it continues:

The photos of coffins continued for the first two years of the current Bush administration, from Ramstein and other bases. Then, on the eve of the Iraq invasion , word came from the Pentagon that other bases were to adopt Dover's policy of making the arrival ceremonies off limits"

Perhaps there lies your answer

31. I probably shouldn't bury this here, but ...a good tactic I saw today
Someone on another message board that I frequent asked why people like President Bush. One poster replied that they liked Bush because he was pro-life and they agreed with his foreign policy.

The next post took those words and made them a clickable link. The link took you to a picture of the caskets.

35. Pentagon can say what they want, but the truth is
public opinion began to turn against Vietnam when the American people started seeing caskets coming home on the news every night. Ever since Vietnam, the Pentegon has been fighting this "Vietnam syndrome" (don't know if it's a real term). Casualties reported on the news without images do not hit reality with people. Images, though, strike at people's hearts. When you see those coffins, you know that inside those boxes lie someone's son or daughter, someone's brother or sister, someone's husband, wife, father or mother. Seeing those images make people ask, "Is this worth it?" This is a question that this government definitely does not want asked of this war.

34. NBC showed snaps of Reagan laying medals on coffins and Clinton
photos you showed above with the coffins. With Bush NOTHNG. Any GI Joe and their family and vet who still loves da' Bush boy to death is stupid. This shows just how much compassion he has for any of them. To him they are a few steps lower than road kill. They are the peons. They are the adoring who should go to their deaths with the words "my holy, lord and savior Boooosh" on their lips. They are total fools to support this scum. Bush doesn't "do" coffins.
