How many have purchased SIRIUS radio just for Air America
I'm thinking hard about it and I'm curious if you believe it was worth the price.

Are you impressed enough with Air America to have forked over the $100. and monthly subsription price? Does the other programming on SIRIUS add value to your purchase or do you even listen to the other programming?

1. Already had Sirius radio
and I love listening to channel 143, the progressive left..

It has introduced me to Thom Hartmann and Ed Schultz. I love big Ed.. I believe Rush is afraid of him.. LMAO!!

2. well, then, let me ask you this...
If you didn't already have it, would purchase it just for the programming you like? Is it worth it to you?

I received Sirius as a Christmas present. After comparing it with xm it was my first choice. At the time it only had Radio Left and was carrying IEAMERICA. Boy do I miss Mike Malloy.
I have Sirius in the car, at home and a boom box.
As far as other stations, musically i am VERY ECLECTIC and listen to just about ALL the streams depending on my mood. I just love it.
Here is a site if you want a good comparison between Sirius vs XM.

7. It Depends
It depends if your building is close to a terrestrial repeater or if you are close to a window facing in the correct direction.

If you're wanting Air America at work via Sirius, I would either find a friend who has it and borrow it for a day trying it out in the building. Or purchase the equipment from a place like Best Buy or Circuit City that has a liberal return policy and only try a one month subscription.

Satellite radio is always bit harder to get reception indoors if you can't plant an antenna on the roof.

On this page is a Map with directions to point an antenna:

9. Purchased XM before Sirius
Edited on Fri Apr-23-04 06:40 AM by Born Free
First off, it cost us a lot more than $100.00, closer to $1000.00 for two radios and 6 months of programming. Quality wise, the radios work well, both the Alpine with built in XM tuner installed in the car and in the home using the Delphi Skyfi. The music is great but we purchased XM for Air America and that is an area that XM is currently behind Sirius. XM doesn't have all of Air America, they run other shows including a really poor show from Fox called Alan Colmes where they have all the right wingers on to beat up on the so called liberal. I am hoping XM drops Alan Colmes and gets Rhandi Roades in that time slot, I would sooner hear her even if it was not live. IF I had know Air America would be on Sirius we would have purchased Sirius, as those radios with built in tuners are more plentiful and cheaper - at this point in time I recommend Sirius. XM does have forums where people can discuss the programming and there are a few of us trying to get XM to play more Air America shows and drop the Fox show. If you are interested, in helping out it's at http://www.xmfan.com/viewforum.php?f=28---OH you can win a new XM radio if you sign up.

ON edit: We live in near the capital of Pennsylvania and the reception on XM is great , there is only one "backroad" underpass where the signal drops for an instant. I was pleasantly surprised how well the Satellite signal was, even in the house. The antenna on the car is small; not much bigger than a quarter, smaller than a Reeses easter egg and the antenna in the house is small but not as small as the one in the car, but it sits on a window sash, out of the way. The XM satellite technology works well, reception is great and the regular programming is good, the weakest link is the new America Left station isn't as good as Sirius.
