Pres. Buchanan* get out of the way. Bush* is now the worst president ever
So I was wondering what the ranking were for the presidents so I looked them up. CSPAN put together a list that looks good. Pres. Buchanan was considered the worst ever. He won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote like Bush. He also failed to hold together the union causing the civil war.

Buchanan was a moderate but sounds more like a spineless politician than a leader.

Bush is an extremist/radical/fascist theocrat. He is mistrusted by moderates, conservatives and the left. He only appeals to the extreme right and the fearful few.

There are several things that make Bush worse than Buchanan. Bush lied to get us into a war. Bush misappropriated funds which is a crime. Bush is complicit in manipulating markets for votes. The Bush regime has suppressed the media and dissent with threats of punishment and lost favor. Bush approved the misuse of top-secret war plans. The Bush regime leaked information exposing a spy for the purpose of retribution. And there are many other examples.

I think this clearly makes the case that George W. Bush is the worst president ever. President Buchanan*, your star has been replaced. It took 148 years, but there is a man worse than you.

2. Harding is only 4th?????
Five Worst Presidents

James Buchanan
Andrew Johnson
Franklin Pierce
Warren G. Harding
William Henry Harrison

This list is silly in my opinion. Johnson was hamstrung by the radical republicans, Harrison was dead 90 days after his inagural, Buchanan was ineffective when the country needed strong leadership and no doubt a bad president, but not #1, and Pierce is always looked at as a drunk.

Harding was a world class, no holds barred, crook. He had no time to be president, due to his constant poker games or his daily tryst in his "sex closet" in the oval office with secrataries. Rumor is that he didn't die of natural causes, but was poisoned by his pissed off wife who just couldn't take the asshole anymore. His buddies tried to carry off most of the national treasury.

Having said all that, I do say that Harding is looking pretty good compaired to Shrub about now.

6. In fairness, Harrison should not be ranked at all

The man died after only 30 days in office. It's not like he had a chance to accomplish anything.

I also object to Andrew Johnson's inclusion on the list. He was an ineffective President, true; but he had an obstinate Congress that was out to remove him from office at any cost. Congress set him up for impeachment with acts passed over his veto that, in the end, were later ruled to be unconstitutional.

Buchanan, Pierce and Harding all deserve to be on the list. Grant is also a traditional inductee to the worst ever club owing to a string of scandals that touched his appointees, including cabinet officers and his Vice President. I also believe Nixon deserves to be on the list owing to Watergate. At least Grant and Harding did not actively participate in the scandals of their administrations; Nixon did.

4. buchanan wasn't as bad as he's made out to be
failing to prevent the civil war can't be pinned entirely on him.

in fact, forestalling the civil war was as herculean task that took generations of statesmen dating back to the founding of the country itself.

arguably, it was lincoln who triggered the civil war; that's always been the south's version anyway.

in any event, the civil war was always going to happen eventually, anyway.

bush on the other hand has caused massive damage to the u.s. on many fronts, all of them optional.

7. He's still pretty bad
True, the Civil War had been postponed time and time again, largely due to the efforts of Henry Clay, Daniel Webster and John C. Calhoun. In 1860, all three members of the American Triumvirate were dead and the South was seceding.

Buchanan's position after the election of Lincoln and before he left office, as Southern states were seceding from the Union, was (I kid you not) that the states had no right to secede and the federal government had no right to stop them.

That kind of paralysis is what earns Buchanan the scorn of historians. If there was any chance that Lincoln could have avoided war, Buchanan's inaction killed it.

Talk about fiddling while Rome burned . . . .

5. I lost faith in the results when I....
...saw that Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon and George Bush are rated considerably higher than Bill Clinton.
