<The caller said she had a picture a friend had sent to her. "Somebody should see it," she said.
Barry Fitzsimmons, a veteran photojournalist, has handled many of those calls and knows most of the pictures are never published. The Seattle Times photo editor also knows, "one in a thousand is a gem," so he agreed to give this one a look.

When the photo arrived, "I just said wow," Fitzsimmons recalls. "The picture was something we don't have access to as the media," and yet it seemed undeniably newsworthy. >

1. More of this type of picture just might provide the American public with
a very rude awakening. Reality check time.

3. The photo is very powerful
The Seattle Times news editor says: "The picture was something we don't have access to as the media." Why does the media allow the government to suppress images of soldiers? We should be allowed to see, and respect, the sacrifices of our troops. Maybe then the public would have a different view of next war of choice.

4. Shows how out-of-touch press is, though
The pictures that have been up at bartcop.com for the last week or so look as if they've come from the same roll as this one. He's had it; said he found it on the internet.

So, why haven't all the major newspapers been able to find it? Why did they have to depend on calls from a friend-of-a-friend?

"The picture was something we don't have access to as the media"

Good grief, people. Get an internet connection and start clicking. You might find out all kinds of interesting things--like, for starters, people are getting killed and seriously wounded in AWOLs lovely little war.

5. They probably have the information
They just haven't been willing to publish it.

They are turning on bush, they're just not going to do it all at once. JMHO
