From January, 2001, Co-Chairmen Gary Hart & Warren Rudman lead a panel on the report of the U.S. Commission on National Security for the 21st Century.

Wasn't This started years ago? And ignored?

2. It was completed Jan 2001 and given to the new misadministration

right after they took office. Cheney did not want to act on it because he wanted to issue something with his name on it. I guess he couldn't stand the Hart part of Hart-Rudman. Of course he never got around to doing anything about it.

3. Hart was interviewed on NPR's Here & Now on wednesday.

He said that he wants to testify before the 9/11 commission but has not been called. He said that the report was ignored by Cheney, Rice, and Rumsfeld. The thing that surprised me was that Newt Gingrich was also on the commission that wrote the Hart-Rudman report.

If you go to the link they also had some pundits talking yesterday about how the report was not covered by the media because they were too busy covering P.Ditty's trial on the day it was released. Then when Hart tried to get interviews with the major news outlets over the months preceeding 9/11, they were totally preoccupied with shark attacks and Gary Condit. Oh well. . .you know priorities.
