1. I'm for bringing the troops home but not ignoring the Middle East.

I'm for finding a win win solution to the problems of the Middle East using diplomacy. I'm for Americans understanding the people of that part of the world and believing in them to plan their own destiny. I'm for getting off the teat of Mid-East Oil. None of this requires troops going to war.

2. Yes. We can offer humanitarian aid
to rebuild.

the troops ARE the security risk - just by being there.

as for I/P, it's obvious Sharon is not serious about peace. Sorry Israel, but get that guy out of there.

4. For bringing the troops home..
...but we can never ignore the Middle East. Instead, we should do business with them, fair and square. Fair and square never fails.

6. Is that your only solution
to a complex problem, one exacerbated by this administration for its own purpose?

Obviously the invasion of Iraq was based upon private agenda and not upon threat of terrorst action but now that we are there we have to help fix our own mess. The occupation of Iraq , besides setting a terrible precedent and costing us the good will of most of the world, has increased terrorist activity and recruitment , probably known before hand and welcomed by the Wolfowitz',Perles and the like, and leaving now almost guarrantees a hostile government in power there.

The only solution that seems plausible to me is surrendering control of the situation to the UN, financing their efforts as a sort of mea culpa, and assuring really free elections in Iraq rather than the blatant installation of a puppet government that will surely be beset on all sides and quickly fall.

7. I think we give that region too much power.
It dominates our news too much. There are bigger problems here at home we should concern ourselves with. We should go back to what we were talking about on 9/10/2001. It is very easy to do. We just do it.

8. We helped create this mess
and to bail out now will leave more chaos. I don't know what we should do now in Iraq. I think we need a multi-national solution. More level heads from many countries. We never should have gone there but if we leave than we just destroyed a civilization.

If we leave the Israel and Palestinian crisis than we will have nuclear war. Israel has nukes and will use them if they have no other options. We need diplomacy and sanity.

9. There is a phrase
You broke, you fix it. I was against the damn war from the beginning but now its our job to finish it and turn over power. We took out Saddam's regime and military, now we HAVE to stablize that country and build up a decent Iraqi military. By retreating we may face a new Al Qaeda state if they take over.

11. Thats your opinion
Edited on Fri Apr-16-04 06:52 PM by BradCKY
I first heard of Bin Laden in 98 making a speech saying "we should kill all Americans"

Now even if you believe in LIHOP (I personally don't) that still means Al Qaeda was involved the 9/11 attacks that to ME makes Al Qaeda a threat. Not to mention the USS Cole bombings. Now if you believe in MIHOP, well thats your opinion I'm not going into that argument tonight.
