Severe inflation in US being caused by Iraq police action.
I've heard credible reports that the "action" in Iraq are driving up the costs of building materials in the U.S. Could this also be affecting the cost of Chicken, which I've been reading lately has sky-rocketed in the last month? I'm curious as to whether this is getting any national attention in the media.

1. I haven't noticed the price of chicken going up,
but I rarely buy meat. Still, higher gas prices is driving the price of everything up, because it affects transportation costs.

I certainly haven't seen much in the media about increasing prices...but I guarantee you individuals are noticing this. Everybody's paying higher prices on all kinds of things.

As for the prices of building materials, that got mentioned in the media early in the war. Haven't heard anything about it since then.

I suppose the news media isn't supposed to spread discouraging words.

Almost every daily had it featured prominently.

2. sounds like an attempt of the Right to avoid responsibility
according to the RW, everything that goes wrong on their watch is always someone else's fault.

4. Building materials increases are bankrupting some companies
They are haviing to buy materials NOW to build projects that were priced and bid BEFORE the huge price run up.. My husband's company will be (and is being)hit hard.. Luckily, they are a very reputable company and are able to build in a nice profit in their bids, BUT, their bottom line will be hit nevertheless. Their "shop guys" and drivers are all union (a rarity these days in So Cal cabinetry businesses), so they already have a high overhead. My husband said that some of the items that they buy regularly have QUADRUPLED in price.. stuff like plywood, hinges, etc..and then there is the $2.40 gal gasoline...and the ever increasing cost of full medical, dental, vision health care benefits, and the profit sharing and 401-k funding..

This is not a very nice thing to do to businesses..

Layoffs are not likely though, since they have a steady workload for their shop (in fact they will go to 10-12 hr days..6 days a week, for those who want the extra money).

Odd how this administration that claims to be "for" business, seems to be pretty picky when it comes to which ones.
