"War footing" -- did you know we're on it?
Did anyone notice how much * kept using this term last night? Exactly, what does it mean? It was like he was practicing a new buzzword to get comfortable with it. I have a feeling this is a new "meme" (God, I hate that word), to borrow another buzzword.

1. It's a new buzzword for it's not our fault. It's yours. Still don't
explain how people simply did not do their jobs.

2. I think I'm getting it
After several hours and a nice nap, as near as I can figure, it's his way of making excuses for not having a clue, despite all the clues, that we were about to be attacked in 2001. That's what I have come up with, feel free to come up with a better theory.

8. That a flat out lie
War footing means mobilizing private industry towards military purposes, financing the war effort with war bonds.

And most importantly having the servicepeople necessary to do the job, this means heavy recruitment if not the draft to bring our military up to strength.

We have a peacetime economy and are fighting this conflict with a peacetime military. We don't have enough body armour, warm meals or (and this is inconceivable) BULLETS.

10. Code for "It's Clinton's fault."
He said something like, "Before 9/11 we were not on a war footing even though our enemies were... I put us on a war footing ... and a war's still on." Unfortunately for Bush, he's caught with his pants down.

New reports are showing that he was warned repeatedly. When asked yesterday how he "specifically" responded to the Aug. 6th memo threatening conventional hijackings, Bush had nothing to say for himself. The Bushies knew there was a chance of conventional hijackings (along with an unspecified "big event") and they did zip.
