"I really don't care; they're all gonna die," (Fallujah)
said Lance Cpl. Ryan Christiansen, 25.

"If they're trying to find a peaceful way out of this, great. But at this point, there seem to be few options other than to get innocents out and level it, wipe it clear off the map," said 1st Lt. Frank Dillbeck

These depressing quotes from:

Some Troops Expect All-Out Fallujah Fight
Tue Apr 13, 5:12 PM ET

By JASON KEYSER, Associated Press Writer

FALLUJAH, Iraq - Digging in around Fallujah, their three-day-old truce punctured by shelling, gunfire and well-orchestrated ambushes, U.S. Marines gave vent to their frustrations Tuesday, saying they saw no alternative to an all-out battle for the city.

4. This is not a movie and WW2. Time to get up to date.
Next they will be saying take Najar,(Sp) the Holy City. I think they are really way off on what they are doing.I think we are wrong to look at things like the old days. Every thing we seem to be doing feels wrong. Already we have more dead than in first 14 months than we did in Vietnam. Another war we seemed to have not been in, for no good reason. I think we need some new thinking. Our army does not seem to know these people or the culture so how can we rebuild the country? In Germany we had Eur helping us and we had come from that culture. Japan was a country of orderly people, by culture, so easier also. This is a new culture to us.Looks like Bush and Co. are going to get a lot of people killed because they can not say they are wrong.

8. siege

Sadly, this tragic situation shows no signs of ending soon. The fighting goes on. Russian forces conduct sweeps, sealing towns and villages and searching house to house for fighters. Often these sweeps are subsequently followed by reports of the beatings and torture of civilians, of extortion, or the disappearances of young men. Russian convoys are ambushed daily by Chechen fighters using landmines, and Russian blockposts or administrative buildings are often attacked in hit-and-run raids. Pro-Moscow Chechen administrators are assassinated. The economy is in shambles. Housing and infrastructure are destroyed, especially in Grozny where thousands still live, struggling from day to day in the most difficult conditions.

The United States Government is committed to doing all that we can to bring about an end to this conflict and to relieve the suffering of the civilian population. Through our humanitarian assistance programs and our diplomatic efforts, the United States remains engaged on Chechnya.

Oops!

--Sorry, wrong war crime.

Nevermind.

just remember that a lot of people know your name now. Very handy when looking for people to indict for war crimes.

10. No wonder I can't sleep.
from the article:

One complex ambush began when a small girl led a herd of cattle across the highway in front of a seven-vehicle convoy, said Lance Cpl. Ryan Christiansen, 25, from the Chicago suburb of Huntley.

As the convoy slowed, dozens of gunmen hiding in tall grass and buildings along both sides of the zigzagging highway let loose with machine guns and small arms fire.

"It was raining bullets sideways," Christiansen said.

The commander of the convoy was shot in the leg and radioed to the others, "Hurry up; we got to get out of here," Christiansen recalled. The commander was then fatally shot in the head. The Pentagon (news - web sites) identified him as 34-year-old 1st Lt. Oscar Jimenez, of San Diego, Calif.

15. Kind of haunting
Commander Jiminez was killed.

Nine insurgents were killed.

And the small girl?

Even if she wasn't killed, there's not a strong sense that she would be excluded from the fate of the gunmen in Christiansen's "I really don't care; they're all gonna die."

A number of our troops are NOT 'heros'. Some are just plain children of evil, looking for any opportunity to kill.

A local RW radio ass here in Orlando Shannon Burke had a caller who said that we should drop a neutron bomb on Fallujah, to which he responded, "Good idea."

These people are incredible.
