Did anyone here Bush's Blue tie/Red tie comment to the press yesterday?
It was at the end of the press conference yesterday. On his way out he told reporters he was going to hold another press conference later....I turned my attention away, but heard Bush make a comment about the press wearing red ties and blue ties, but I didnt hear exactly what he said. Did anyone else hear it?

It sounded bizarro world Bushism.

red blue must be color coding in some 'safe' way for Bush to call on them?
It sounds like he only calls on reporters with a SPECIFIC color of tie. They must have the planted questions for his canned replies.

4. Bush is just applying what he learned on Sesame Street earlier in the day.
He learned the color blue. And the color red.

His next press conference will be brought to you by the letters F and U.

5. Another way to script everything?
Might it have something to do with red and blue states? Where's the guy from AP? Who you talkin' to, boy?

I wish I wasn't going to be in a meeting during this one. I wonder how he will keep it friendly? Can't see how he will.

I love the headline in WP online: " Tonight's News Session Bumps 'Idol'" Awwwww!

6. transcript link
PRESIDENT BUSH: Thank you, sir.
By the way, tomorrow night I'm interested in answering more questions for you all. So if you pick out a red or blue tie --

Q A news conference?

PRESIDENT BUSH: Why not. See you at the East Room.
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/04-12-2004/0002149979&EDATE=

and another 'snippy' bit-

"Q What's on the table in the way of reform --

PRESIDENT BUSH: Hold on a second, please. Lindlaw, I don't want to lecture you here, but you were given one question and President Mubarak is going to wonder, is the press corps totally out of control here in America. So I'm going to have to cut you off at this point in time."

Daring to ask a follow-up question = totally out of control?!

no blue tie for you, Lindlaw.

Geesh...

8. Press out of control
Hey c'mon, give the Shrub a break. Here he's standing next to a guy who throws overly obnoxious reporters in jail. Gotta keep up the national dignity in front of President (what is Bush's nickname for Mubarek--I know he calls Putin 'Pooty Poo')

By the way, I thought Bush looked pretty damn awful too. If he ain't hitting the bottle, he looks like he needs a drink.

he wanted to make sure he knew it was a reporter asking the questions, so he told them to wear a tie. at least he gave them a choice of colors!

15. It pisses me off that he is always wearing light-blue ties.
Light-blue is the color the Infantry wears on their dress uniform and is also the color of the medal of honor. Seeing it on him makes this grunt want to :puke:

16. Heard it...
I think it was another one of Bush's lame attempts at humor. Maybe the press will wizen up and all wear black ties.

19. well it fits...
i forget how it goes but if bush is wearing a blue tie i think it means he has bad news and a red tie means he has good news...or is it the other way around.

either way it's so he knows that if they are wearing a blue tie it doesn't mean good for him and a red tie guy is his friend.

seriously i would show up w/ a tie w/ pink polka-dots on it!

22. ABC new's The NOTE gives a clue
- red/blue based on where one lives... no details though - sounds like blue staters (NY, CA) wear blue, and red staters (Ala, Tx) wear red?
