Tuesday, April 13, 2004The Dangerous Gossip of the Week
In fact, I didn’t want to discuss that until I heard the “clarification” of the GC today, invalidating the rumor and saying it is not true at all.
The underground gossip says that Pashmerga (Kurds militias) took a part in the Falluja battles last week, (after the soldiers of the “New Iraqi Army” refused to obey the orders and go fight there).
The decreasing possibility of having a Sunni-Shia war increases the possibility of starting an Arab-Kurd one.
The Question of the Week
If Muqtada AsSadr is an “outlaw” that must be either killed or arrested, why is the CPA negotiating with him?
Is it going like “umm… excuse me Mr. AsSadr, can we please kill you?”
The Rhetoric Question of the Week
When Bremer decides to hand over the security authorities to the Iraqi Police at Najaf, doesn’t he really realize that Iraqi Police is COMPLETELY controlled by AsSadr there? Or it just about changing the black custom of AlMahdi Army?
and... The Advice of the Week

Monday, April 12, 2004It seems that Bush and Bremer decided to put an end to their war at Falluja, after seven days of attacks on the town.
The first official body count said that 518 Iraqis were killed, including 167 women and 56 children under the age of five. The Iraqi Red Crescent said that another 5000 families ran away from the town.
Dozens of American soldiers were also injured and killed.
So, what did we achieve?
What did Bush and his administration achieve?
What did the Iraqi and the American people achieve?
Another destroyed town?
Another example of how heavy tanks and air fighters can be used in street fighting?
Another example of how mosques (the culturally sensitive places) can be bombed if “enemies” were hiding inside them? And how other mosques can be used as strategic positions for American snipers? (which is a culturally incorrect thing to do)
Another example how public services such as electricity and water can be cut off and used as weapons?
Or is it just a new example of how to build a mass grave, but Bush style?
Does Bush really think that he KILLED all the “bad” and “evil” people there?
And can KILLING anyone solve any problem?
When Bush decided to start his “War on Terrorism”, secular people (including myself) didn’t feel offended at all; I mean… that was OUR war, the war in which we spent years of our lives fighting against fundamentalism and extremism in our countries.
But after a couple of years, I can say that the Bush administration war was the best chance for extremists to gaiin more popularity and to have a louder voice in our communities.
The shadows of the unpleasant events of Falluja will affect the image of the American Army in Iraq… it will only increasing the anger of Iraqis, and help more extremist right winged leaders dominate the political mood.
For God’s sake, didn’t anyone think of starting a survey to attempt to predict what this war might cause from a socio-cultural perspective? A survey to compare the anger and hatred of both Arabs’ and Americans’ “regular Joes” before and after the war of Iraq??
Don’t you believe that the war on terror must start with fixing the deep roots of the problem?? The real reasons that cause horrible incidents like what happened on the 11th of Sept…. the reasons that rationalize the plans of people full of hate going all the way to kill themselves with other thousands of American civilians?
Well... Kimmitt the frog has an interesting theory…
Today, he asked Iraqis to simply “CHANGE THE TV CHANNEL”…
What the!!!!!! I mean… he was answering a question from an Iraqi journalist, about how to enhance the image of the American Army, after Iraqis saw hundreds of civilians being killed in Falluja on the Arabic TV channels…
He said that twice! I swear to god! “Change the Channel”!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
What can I say…
Happy Easter.
