Pinkerton On Drudge.... Right Wing Radio Allows Damning Attacks on Bush?
Edited on Sun Apr-11-04 10:03 PM by ulTRAX
Anyone listening to Drudge? John Pinkerton, who worked for Reagan ad Bush 1 is bashing Bush's Iraq war. The invite to appear was because of this editorial:

a great line:
<<"If you knew that President Franklin D. Roosevelt had received a memo a month before Pearl Harbor entitled, "Japanese Determined to Attack the United States in the Pacific," and that he had done nothing about that information, would that knowledge change your perception of FDR as a wise war leader?">>

2. It was a good interview
Drudge pretty much kept his mouth shut, but of course backed away and made sure that none of his listeners thought he agreed with Pinkerton.

As if he's got some neo-nazi on.

Roosevelt received no such memo, of course, but President George W. Bush got a blunt warning five weeks before 9/11 and he did little or nothing. He even presided over a stand- down in preparations, concentrating on other concerns."

So lets look at your comparison to expose your idiocy, shall we? First, you say had FDR gotten a memo that said "Japanese Determined to Attack the United States in the Pacific" that would be identical to the memo that Bush received. Only problem is, Japan is a sovereign nation with an Air Force compared to a loosely arranged terrorist group. Second, even if he had gotten that memo - its still pretty vague. What he could have done is readied gunships to take down an air force. Thats not so hard.

So, you are great at saying what Bush did wrong, what SHOULD he have done? I have yet to get a straight answer on that. Perhaps he should have just stopped all middle-eastern people from flying. That wouldve stopped the problem. Perhaps he could also ban all non-citizens from taking domestic flights. That wouldve stopped it too. Do you support that?

What he SHOULD have done:
1. gotten off his ass and called NORAD.
2. Detained the families of bin laden for questioning, instead of escorting them out of the country.
3. Upped airport security.
4. Heeded a couple of the warnings.
5. Gotten out of the elementary school-cum-terrorist target, and done his job.
6. Investigated the reports when he got the warnings, instead of going on vacation.

If there is nothing he could have done better then, then how can we be better off now? What if he's gets another warning? Shrug his shoulders and head off to camp David?

sorry for the rant :)

7. James Pinkerton
He's a syndicated columnist who worked in the Reagan WH. Also on the Newswatch weekly media show on FAUX. He has turned against Bush.
