Bush Knew and So What?
Tucker Carlton (who I think is an idiot) made a point on Chris Matthews show this morning -- and sadly, I think he is correct. He said something to the effect that 'in the end, American's will not hold the President responsible for 9/11'. I agree that after this blows over that in the end the President will not be held accountable by the majority of the American people. What I am not understanding in this debate is why it is not being pointed out that the President was on vacation on August 6, 2001 and continued his vacation for nearly a month after reading that memo rather than to call it short and hold a cabinet meeting and direct his cabinet to start "shaking the trees" in an attempt to thwart any terrorist attack. In my mind that makes the president culpable. Yes, it was Bin Laden's people who flew airplanes into buildings but Bush did absolutely nothing to stop him.

1. If that's the attitude of this country, I'm leaving. I'll learn French
and go to a country where most of the people aren't total morons.

2. The point is being made - even in WaPo (see LBN)
F*er's "America" will never understand anything - because that's his job. people who read, listen and vare, will hold W accountable. I'll remind you that the GOP convention is in NYC, W to be crowned at ground zero. Ooops!

3. The point he may be missing is...
sure they may not want him to go to jail or face any charges, but they sure in the hell will NOT want that idiot back in office for 4 more years either.

4. I say it again: Most Muricans are willfully stupid and uninformed.
They prefer it that way.

Great example: Military families who supported the Shrubster as he ordered their loved ones into the maelstrom a year ago; and who now are beginning to turn on Junior.

We have no information now that was not available a year ago; they simply refused to accept what was right before their dull, stupid eyes.

While I am glad to see the turning of the military worm, I am having difficulty manufacturing sympathy for these dupes.

6. Better example: William Hung...
Not only are the Murkan Sheeple "willfully stupid and un-informed" (a state they work HARD to maintain) but they have a Bizzaro-mindset where Crap is King and absence of talent is rewarded.

So that's why most of them are happy with The Chimp.

We had all this information a year ago, but there was no standard of comparison. Wolfowitz and Rumsferatu told us that our troop were going to be welcomed with open arms (and legs) when we marched in and they had no reason to doubt them. In fact, they had been conditioned to believe ANYTHING that comes from a ReTHUGlican mouth, because these are honest men who would never ruin a girl's pretty blue dress....:puke:

"Willlfully stupid"...I like that. Gives me a mental image of somebody sticking their fingers in their ears and going "I can't HEAR you! FoxNews! 'Fair and Balanced'! 'Fair and Balanced'!..."

People who don't know who their Congressman is, but they can give you a plot synopsis of EVERY episode of "Friends" or the complete CV of every loser ever thrown off "The Island"....

5. He's in big trouble. He hid what he knew.
It sort of reminds me of Bush's DUI.

Now that we know Bush knew about the Bin Laden threat, the next question has to be, "Why didn't he ever mention that after 9/11?" Bush never admitted he knew Al Qaeda was in country and intended to attack the United States. Bush covered that up.

He tried to prevent the 9/11 Commission from forming. Then he tried to put Henry Kissinger in as chairman. Then Hastert tried to force the commission to finish their work prematurely.

Bush has a guilty mind, and he hid his guilt. It is that simple. He covered up, and he intended to cover up.

10. And what did that DUI cost him?
And TinMan Cheney had what, TWO DUI arrests?

And how many ReTHUGlicans in congress cheated on their wives (and probably got blow jobs, too)?

ReTHUGlicans can Do No Wrong in the eyes of most the Sheeple...

13. He went too far this time.
A President of the United States doesn't cover up evidence of his own national security mistakes. The DUI reference is just another example of Bush covering up something about himself for political reasons.

You are right though, Republicans approve of DUI.

7. he had his chance
the transplanted texan wannabe could have used the international goodwill to send "the rangers" to clean up the kiber pass and reopen ancient trade routes between the subcontinent and eastern europe. the people in that region would have been grateful for a long time but he choose an alternative, poorly thoughtout route instead.
the commander in chief is a miserable failure. fire him this novenber. congress is not much better. let's replace a few of them too. remind them who pays their salaries.

11. Yep as long as they have their "Reality TV" and their SUVs
and all the other little distractions in their lives they don't want to believe that their leader is a sociopathic moron.

"Oh, I can't *imagine* how hard it is to be president!" is what one of the ladies in my carpool said to me when I told her about some of what was in the O'Neill book. To which I replied, "Well, if you can't stand the heat..."

14. Americans value innocence above wisdom.
Edited on Sun Apr-11-04 10:30 AM by TahitiNut
Our culture worships childhood and childishness ... the 'innocence' of childhood based on ignorance and lack of experience. Junior is the National Child: ignorant and without experience, with "youthful indiscretions" at the age of 40 and beyond.

Wisdom can only be gained when innocence is left behind. Today, nobody is rewarded by the public at large for graduating from the "School of Hard Knocks." People with wisdom are derided as 'elitists' and people with entrenched ignorance are enabled. Compliance, loyalty, and obedience are elevated above independence, free thought, and individualism.

Think about it ... all the diminutives used to refer to Dim Son, Junior, and Shrub. He's the nation's emotionally disturbed child: a permanent adolescent.

15. Americans are stupid & two-faced, they pin the prez on economic issues!
Of course, the next prez in office (whether it be Kerry or Bushko*) will be blamed for another attack - which is likely inevitable; with *'s own actions having done nothing to fix the actual problem. He prefers to bomb the living daylights out of the symptom.

into a disaster. The impression of Bush the bungler, incompetent leader will be hard to shake.
