US soldiers in Iraq asked to pray for Bush

They may be the ones facing danger on the battlefield, but US soldiers in Iraq are being asked to pray for President George W Bush.

Thousands of marines have been given a pamphlet called "A Christian's Duty," a mini prayer book which includes a tear-out section to be mailed to the White House pledging the soldier who sends it in has been praying for Bush.

"I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult. May God's peace be your guide," says the pledge, according to a journalist embedded with coalition forces.

The pamphlet, produced by a group called In Touch Ministries, offers a daily prayer to be made for the US president, a born-again Christian who likes to invoke his God in speeches.

Sunday's is "Pray that the President and his advisers will seek God and his wisdom daily and not rely on their own understanding".

Monday's reads "Pray that the President and his advisers will be strong and courageous to do what is right regardless of critics".

8. Just to make clear: This story is a year old. March 30, 2003.

It doesn't make it any the less sick. In fact it's sicker than meets the eye, because it occurred while the US forces were getting the worst of the war.

But people shouldn't think this is a current story.

I was just revolted when I heard about the little prayer books. Not surprising it is still going on however, considering these "End Timers" are just praying for Armageddon and the New Jerusalem.

just the whole idea that soldier should be praying for bush rather than the other way around.

what's next, should the homeless pray for the wealthy, should patients pray for their doctors, should students pray for their teachers, should prisoners pray for their wardens, should parishioners pray for their priests?

bush praying for the safe return of the soldiers would be cheap and exploitative, but at least it's nominally in the right direction, insincere though we know it would be.

but to state that soldiers staring death in the eye should be praying for mr. awol while he's fishing back in texas is utterly disgusting.

it's amazing to me that soldiers can still support these sh*theads. the bushies obviously don't give a rat's patootie about soldiers, they only like that they can steal oilfields for them to profit from.
