2. an important and necessary turning point though grim
Read an article on yahoo today discussing how after the contractors were burned to death and drug through the streets that the 'taboo' of not showing the atrocities and horrors of war went to the wayside. We need to know what our tax dollars are paying for. It is our obligation.

6. How ironic: they LOVED showing that horror.
But the simple dignity of our men and women returning to their homes after paying the ultimate price doesn't boost their ratings.

11. Horrors: OK. Sacrifice: not OK.
You've summed it up.

12. Yep, you got it just right -
They would rather have X ratings over a longer period of time (keep the war going) than just get a huge spike for just a short while. Remember, advertising dollars come in on a per day basis. They want MORE days --a huge sensational day with lots of viewers won't mean much if we like, um, ENDED the war.

Complicit in the crimes... that is our 'free' press.

10. You are right.
However painful the facts may be, we must be aware. It is an awful choice.

Welcome to DU, BTP04.

It is nice to be posting. I found the top 10 conservative idiots (hilarious) awhile ago, but have been too busy to get involved in discussions. At this point in the horror that is the bush administration - I need to brush shoulders with like-minded/hearted people.

Oooo, that will be my nickname: BTP04 (and I am serious -- we should dump something in the boston harbor. Can't decide what it should be. Tea isn't relevant any longer. The only thing relevant that I can think of is to dump LABORERS in, but that would not be very nice, would it? lol; or maybe all the unemployed can jump in!)

3. "Grim" is too mild of an adjective
I don't have the answer, other than "what a waste" based on a lie for power and greed and control of another man's country.

4. hopefully...
...all those people with the time to complain to the FCC about "indecency" will finally have something truly indecent to get angry about.

5. On Good Friday, ironically.
If anyone has video, I'd like to see it. It's about damn time we realize the real cost of this mess.

If true, we need to encourrage it, but in a respectful way.

14. I have a question about Arlington Cemetery?
Are the bulk of our fallen soldiers buried there? Or do they primarily get buried in their hometowns?

Cause if they are lining up in ONE cemetery, that would mean an awful lot of fresh graves. And someone should go take some pics.

Just thinking out loud here. This is a little grim, but if they won't be honest about wounded and the fallen, and they won't allow anyone to see a casket come into the country, maybe we should get the list of the fallen, and find their graves and take pics of their graves and put them on a website.

I don't think the families would appreciate it (or maybe they would want to be acknowledged for their family's sacrifice?).

But we are obligated to see the PRICE of this war. We are obligated to see it, just as the Americans forced the Germans to view the concentration camps in ww2.

7. If the Pro-war
assholes want to wag the flag then they had better damn well understand that those boys coming home in coffins is a huge part of war, dont fucking show homecomings if you dont show the caskets, it's disrespectful and dis honest.
