Channel 366 on DirectTV, the international news channel.
The reporter was talking in the United States, and talked about how memories here are so short, that people here don't remember anything beyond a week, and that "any enemy is now a terrorist".
Also interviewed Anthony Cordesman, that cadaeverous-looking military specialist who used to always be on the news, and he was saying that if in fact the uprising in Iraq is a populist uprising that there's no way in hell the US, or anybody else, can stop it. That there's no way that anybody can occupy Iraq if they all decide they don't want to be occupied.
The report also mentioned how the British were unable, in the 1920's, to quell the rebellions when they occupied, even though they were far more brutal and even used poison gas on the Iraqis.
And how Bushco overestimated the antagonism between the different Arab divisions (i.e. Shiite and Sunni), forgetting that the main thing to these people is Arab vs. non-Arab.
It was like a breath of fresh air. All I've heard on MSNBC and CNN today is pure spin and bullshit.
It was a fairly shocking contrast.
