Gore Meets Privately With 9/11 Commission
Former Vice President Al Gore (news - web sites) met with the Sept. 11 panel privately Friday, a day after President Clinton (news - web sites) told commissioners that intelligence wasn't strong enough to justify a retaliation against al-Qaida for the 2000 bombing of a Navy ship.

Gore met with the 10-member bipartisan commission in a three-hour meeting it described as candid and forthcoming. "We thank him for his continued cooperation with the commission," the panel said in a statement.

On Thursday, the commission interviewed Clinton behind closed doors for nearly four hours after the conclusion of national security adviser Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites)'s public testimony, broadcast live on national television.

Bob Kerrey, a former Democratic senator from Nebraska and now a member of the commission, said Friday on ABC's "Good Morning America" he believes Clinton should have been more aggressive in going after al-Qaida following the ship attack.

1. As I remember from the Clarke book
Clinton and Clarked wanted to go after al Qaeda but the FBI/CIA were not 100% sure it was them behind the attack.

5. The CIA didn't want Clinton killing their best "asset"
Plain and simple. They sabotaged his efforts time and time again.

3. Bush is such an incompetent he can't appear without Uncle Dick....
It should be repeated again and again and again. He's trying to run on what a great leaders he is. His lack of enough manliness to do what Clinton and Gore could do on their own, should be trumpeted far and wide.

4. I wonder how much Al is enjoying this?
I'll bet he's volunteering a whole of information to the commission...Al may have the last laugh on the 2000 election.
