Poll question: Which Analogy Is Better For Iraq?
The analogy that Iraq is just like Vietnam, or the analogy that Iraq is like the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan in 1979?

On one hand you have a war fought for suspicious motives, like Vietnam, and no clear exit strategy or planning for what the actual events on the ground would turn out like over time.

On the other hand you have a major empire going into a muslim country and trying to pacify the population, severely draining their military and resources back home.

Which one is closer to Iraq, now?

I say Afghanistan in 1979.
