Message to Jerry Springer...
Okay...so you feel you cannot run for senator because your Ohio candidacy became a "national campaign"... and you fear that your "show" would be an issue..

Welllllll..Here's an idea for ya...

CHANGE YOUR SHOW... Oprah did that.. When she saw her show starting to resemble a lowest-common-denominator theme, she re did it..

You have had 13 years of the freaks-fighting-each other.. You say you are concerned about the common man, well...PROVE IT..

Change your show..

Start bringing in everyday folks who have been victims of this rotten economy and administration..

Instead of having low lifes punching and screaming, how about making your show a place where union leaders and democrats could come to educate "your people"??

Are you afraid that they would turn you off??

You have reached the fork in the road.. You have good ideas, but you lack credibility.. You at least have an opportunity to CHANGE the perception..

If it fails, you can always go back to the slugfests...

1. What an excellent idea!.....I have a feeling there would be an audience
for a show like that!....When I've seen Springer talking, he impresses me that he really does care about the downtrodden...

2. If he cares so much...

Why doesn't he send his $80,000 tax cut to the United Way, or some other worthy charity? Bill Clinton should do that too, considering that they've said they don't want their tax cuts.

5. I love Springer
and I'm a moderate, pragmatic Democrat.

Springer appeals to many of the people who are alienated from the Democratic Party: youth, lower income whites, the "nascar" crowd, minorities, etc. He's very charismatic and smart, if people would look past his TV show. I agree with a lot of what he says -- he's not a far left winger ideologically .. more of an independent liberal who is very passionate about populism.

6. While I might agree with Springer's politics,
no one can deny the fact that he makes his living exploiting ignorant people with pathetic, screwed-up lives. His shows are at least as cruel as the carnival sideshows were to deformed people. I admit that my curiosity is sometimes whetted by watching those sorts of spectacles, but it's definitely a guilty pleasure.

14. Everyone of those people would be better off under Springer
I have never heard him call anyone "ignorant people with pathetic, screwed-up lives." There is a large group of people out there that respect Springer because he treats them with respect. Don't feel too guilty. It's far worse to keep the current governor and legislators in office in Ohio. They have no compassion.

7. I watched him on Crossfire
He makes a good point about fulfilling his TV contract
and that when that's over with, his future is open...
I could see him as a host on MSNBC, a Bill Press part
or running for Congress.

We could use some Dem junkyard dogs fighting for real Americans
in the Senate.

8. The sad thing is it hasn't been 13 years of freak fights.
I remember when his show started and he was trying to be the next Donahue. Then as the ratings started to slip his show went downhill.
Too bad he didn't let his show didn't fail because atleast then he'd have a better track record and people would be more likely to vote for him.

Did anyone else see him on CNN about half an hour ago? Someone asked him what he can do to help the Democratic presidential candidates. He replied that the best thing he could do was support Bush.

10. He ment it as a joke.
Springer's reputation is so bad he figures that his support would hurt a candidate.

11. You remember that episode of
the Addams Family, where the Addams supported a candidate for mayor and ruined his whole campaign? At the end of the show, the other guy came by to thank them for supporting his opponent. One of my favorite episodes!

12. Springer started off as a decent show
Then, at some point in the mid 1990s, it slowly became the freakshow it is today.
