The drive from Kufah to Baghdad "like a scene from Apocalypse Now."

I just got done watching Charlie Rose's interview with John Burns from the NYT. I believe he is the reporter who was "detained" by Sadr's militia for 8 hours. It was a very bleak picture he painted of the situation, but that was his most startling quote. It's a 100 mile drive back to Baghdad and he said it was chaos; small arms fire, road side bombs, and militia guys everywhere.

is how the Canadian journalist described it tonight. He said the American soldiers are really scared and worried over there.

The whole place is "ready to blow"..:(

I know that some of the soldiers are gung-ho...but I have a feeling that most are scared guys who are just trying to stay alive another day..
