Hiding the War Dead - Corporate America Jumps In
On March 20, the local Veterans for Peace dedicated a two-piece Iraq
billboard memorial at the corner of Hilliard and Lexington in Asheville, NC.
One billboard posts the current total of the war dead; the other lists the
US dead by name.

Last Thursday, two people using a truck from Lamar Advertising were caught
and photographed hanging signs over the Memorial. One sign stated "Support
Our Troops". They were caught before the other one could be hung.

When asked what they were doing, they said they were ?replacing the
billboard. When told they were on private property, they responded that most
of the Lamar billboards are on private property. When told that the
billboards were also private property and not Lamar property, they quickly
backed off and stated that they must have made a mistake and the signs were
to go elsewhere.

1. un-f***ing-believable!
these fascists are just unbelievable!

Anything to prevent the truth from coming out.

This is actually an excellent sign, it shows their desperation. They know that things are going really badly for Bush and so are trying to silence the truth...

2. new billboard

Looks like they got their image from RNC, except for the drop
shadow font, and more soft focus "flag" image, just like the
"Mission: Accomplished" on the aircraft carrier.

3. Write 'em a letter
If you follow the link in my post, you'll see an email address to contact Lamar Outdoor Advertising. From what I hear, they are getting pretty uncomfortable with all the attention.

Write 'em a letter!

4. WOW - Caught in the ACT!
And lying about it like their facist masters.

These people have no moral conscious - they are like serial killers, unable to attach with human emotions.

Great photos - great work!

5. Update
After getting this posted on some Indymedia sites, the Veterans for Peace organization in Asheville is startting to get calls from the mainstream media. It was a very unfortunate time for the Lamar coporation to choose to white wash our war dead.
