Bunnypants has recently said that the US would stick to its June 30 deadline to transfer power in Iraq to certain undesignated transferees.

"What the fuck does that mean?" is a good question, I think.

The whole question is illegitimate. The occupation is illegitimate. Now is the time to hand over power to the people of Iraq so that they can determine their own destiny. We must not be the ones to impose the terms on this--they are. We must not impose a social system on Iraq.

Jon Stewart had a good bit on this last night. The June 30 date makes no sense unless there is an Iraqi goverment that we can transfer power to.

I get furious everytime I hear the talking heads debating this issue. The deadline is a farce. Our military will still be in control. The edicts of Bremer cannot be overturned. Private, American corps will still take over every aspect of Iraq's authority (called Privitization) . The Iraqi governing council will still have the sword of Damecles hanging over their head.

The only difference is that Bremer will go home.

Turn over authority? I DON'T THINK SO. It''s a lie. It's a farce.

liberals who want our troops of iraq as soon as possible will vote 'yes' because they don't want to extend it

conservatives who think that everything that bush does is 100% correct will vote 'yes' because bush said it is a good date to transfer the power

Iraq is not colonial America. Iraqis have no concept or experience with democracy, only the cult of personality on one hand and brutality on the other. Who's going to lead? Chalabi? That'd be great, an ethically-challenged pretender sent by another ethically-challenged pretender.
