Air America - "Unfiltered": Gore lost? WTF?
For two days straight one of the women on that show keeps blabbing "Gore lost the election". Today I sent a letter of protest at my2cents@airamerica and got a flippant response:
:"Gore won? Then how comes W is in the White House? I recommended them (response came from a private e-mail) some reading material stressing the importance of knowing that the election was stolen and this illegitimate administration would stop at nothing to retain power.
But I am astounded at the ignorance/hostility displayed here. :WTF:

Gore isn't in the White House DUMBYA is.

Concentrating on that isn't going to get Gore in the WH. This is coming from a fellow Clarkie. The Gore thing is SOOOO over. I'm not bitter about it because it just shows that maybe we can end Jeb's run before he starts. If Daddy Bush sux and his Jr Sux then we know the Eddie Haskel son will surely sux. Maybe this will end the BUSH dynasty!

Can we concentrate on getting Kerry in there now.

Puhleez?

6. We're awake now, we were asleep in the voting booth...we assumed
that Gore had it. We played it easy, Gore's campaign played it easy.

So easy in fact they didn't rally his home state.

We WON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!

blah blah

also, lots of vote fraud in tennessee, too

http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=10589

Black voters were told to get behind the white voters. They were told to remove NAACP stickers from their cars, or leave the polling place without voting. "You know what it is to stand at the back of the bus," said one election volunteer.

Some Blacks were intimidated by police standing around polling places. Others stood in lines over a mile long to use ancient punch-card machines on the verge of falling apart. Sometimes, they'd stand for five or six hours. Once, they complained. Minutes later, two police cars came screeching up.

It all sounds like a promo for "Mississippi Burning," or maybe a documentary about egregious civil rights violations in some Deep South backwater fifty years ago.

But it happened in November 2000.

Well, then, it's got to be about Florida. The massive voter disenfranchisement in Florida has gotten some coverage, especially overseas the people who weren't felons illegally scrubbed from voting rolls, the police roadblocks in Black neighborhoods, the Republican operatives illegally filling out absentee ballots.

But no. All these things and much, much more happened in Tennessee.

Danielson was a one woman dynamo on this after the election....lots and lots of stuff on this at TT......mostly ignored, even MOREso than was Florida, if that's possible

I am sorry you miss the point.
Why do you think Kerry is immune to what they did to Gore?
This is not some desire of having Gore in the White House. This is about keeping history straight: the election was stolen, my vote was stolen, if we still think we have a democracy in this country we are delusional.
And NO ONE - not W, not Karl, not anyone tells me to get over it.

Thise who ignore history are bound to repeat it.

Scrubbing over 50,000 names from voter registration by a Republican VOTING subcontractor to the State of Florida isn't something you merly "get over".

There stacks of proof that Gore was ripped of,this isn't just a sour grapes thing.

20. Interesting point though, vis a vis those 50,000 votes
Greg Palast, the journalist who first broke the Votescam story, handed this to Gore and his campaign on a silver platter early on in the recount process. Think about it now, you've been handed the means with which to not only win the election, ban the Bushies to the political wilderness forever, and uphold your sworn oath of office. What would you do? Well Gore and his handlers decided to ignore it, sit on the story, and continue their bumbling through the recount process. And bumbling it was. Instead of picking the most logical method of recounting, the one guaranteed to hand him the victory, ie recount the whole damn state, Gore decided to go with the method least likely to succeed, cherry picking a country here, a precint there to recount. Foolishness indeed, and yes, it cost him the election.

yes,

Gore LOST, WE LOST, WE LOST, we didn't fight hard enough, WE LOST.

James Baker went down there and FIXED it. WE LOST.

I've always had to work 3 times as hard to be considered equal. I'm used to having to get over it. IT never makes me tired because I always have to get up and fight the next morning.

Wallowing in it never helped me to pull it together to get up the next day to fight again. That is how I make it everyday.

51. Gore won. Let's NOT get over it.
Gore won. Air America is wrong. This is not a simple, academic issue.

Half the country thinks that Gore would be the president now if the Supreme Court hadn't stopped the recount (see below). This fact is a huge factor behind the anger that many in this country feel. If Air America wants to succeed, it had better understand this. Getting over the anger is *NOT* the point.

The following describes one of several questions asked by Zogby International about Gore v. Bush ... This poll came out last September.

http://www.voy.com/128178/59.html

"COUNTRY STILL POLARIZED OVER 2000 ELECTION

Perhaps the most intriguing result of the poll was the almost even split on a question never asked of voters before. The poll asked respondents whether they agree or disagree that Gore would have been elected president had all the votes been counted in Florida in 2000. Almost half, 46 percent , agreed, and 48 percent disagreed (again, within the margin of error). A large majority of Democrats (70 percent) and a majority of independents (50 percent) believe Gore would have won had the Supreme Court not intervened."

Gore WON the popular vote;

Gore WON the Electoral College only to have it overturned by a conservative-majority SCOTUS based on quite a bit of monkey business at the polls in Florida.

There was also a lot of crap going on in Missouri, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Virginia.

How about this...we'll tell YOU when the Coup of December 2000 is over.

Won and Lost have different definitions to different people, why in the heck are we arguing over this?

For some people winning the presidency means, regardless of how, you became president.

For some cheating is not considered winning.

So lets stop arguing over who won and who lost. We are all on the same team here.

This is not a right wing trick. This is not propaganda.

George W. Bush is the president of the United States. For some people that means he won the election. You dont, that isnt an ideological difference, its a difference in language use, and not one that matters.

He is the president whether you define him as winning or not, that is the issue, and this debate is absolutely worthless.

he may have all accoutrements of power, but he stole it nevertheless. And this shall be extremely relevant in November.

24. No, sir. It is VERY important to remember how we all got into this mess..
...in the first place. The decision by the SCOTUS in December 2000 completed the NeoCon Coup, and the rest is history. The economy is in ruins, the NeoCons have gotten us engaged in two wars in the Middle East, and the NeoCon Junta has turned the international community against us.

And, IMHO, they allowed 911 to happen at the very least, just to get the American people to back up their play for the oil in the Middle East.

36. They should have been charged with felony-level crimes.
a great number of them.
bush and cheney, for countenancing and leading it, along with two or three dozen who were in the middle of it, should be in prison right now.
that is the truth.

Oh, and the supremes should have been impeached.

Read Vincent Bugliosi's book.

Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 05:20 PM by xultar
She always calls me constantly complaing, constantly about how he is sleeping around, how he always slept around.

I ask her mom, what are you going to do about it? He did it back in the day, you did nothing but complain and complain, you think he is doing it now, and you complain.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT, leave him, divorce him, get a boyfriend, a girlfriend, spend all his money, set his cars on fire, what?

I wanna hear your SOLUTIONS not your complaining.

I'm willing to help you do what ever it is you need to do. You want me to yell @ him? Talk to him, Cus him out?

But don't dwell...ACT!!!!!

See where I'm headed. I don't like DRAMA, I like ACTION! That is where fights are won. ACTION not YACKING!!

43. Not in this particular case though.
This particular host (Rachel meadow? Liz Winsted?) uses this to defend Nader ("Gore lost on his own"). I opened my letter to them by saying I have no intention to touch that one - their opinion about Gore, nader is irrelevant to me. I just cannot allow them to change the facts: Gore won the election, they stole it.

54. ACTION: Lessons learned from this thread...
Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 05:30 PM by xultar
OK we've talked:

What are our Take aways? What are our Tasks, Action Points?

What are the Action Items... We as Liberals are great @ complaining but we never get our shit together to do more than that. Is there one issue that we can show our power like the RW does? I Sthis the issue? RobbedVoter are you willing to help me rally as many DUers as we can to load AAR up with letters and phone calls until they yield to our demands to talk and Refer to Gore as PResident Albert Gore 41?

Do you want us all to email Air America and complain and tell them to say that Gore won and they should always say that Gore Won?

Do you want us to all Call Air America and complain and tell them to say that Gore won and they should always say that Gore Won?

Do you want us all to Write and snail mail Air America and complain and tell them to say that Gore won and they should always say that Gore Won?

What do you want us to do ROBBEDVOTER? What?

Have you contacted the dept/officials responsible for implementing HAVA in your state?

Have you contacted your senator / rep re: S.1980 or HR.2239?

Maybe it's not *all* liberals who are just all gripe and no action.

It was your "We as Liberals are great @ complaining but we never get our shit together to do more than that" comment that made me wonder about you, so chill.

on edit: We need those bills on the floor, and we need visibility on this issue. If you aren't hammering Kerry about this then no, you're not doing enough, IMHO. Just MHO so please no biting my head off again.

71. Action is not just good it's MANDATORY
I hate that so many I talk to are aware of the dangers but apparently feel so helpless or hopeless or both that they're just pining away.

Letter writing is good, but we need to get on the officials implementing HAVA, contacting them cc: your local elected officials, and start warning them. Some states have already started investigations and even stopped using the machines.

It's really all up to us.

As evidenced by the painful lack of attention to this subject by most elected Dems, we're all we have left.

68. Here's my letter to Air America Radio! Everybody write...
When you refer to Al Gore, please refer to Al Gore as Mr. President, he won the election! The election was stolen by the RW establishment and their operatives. We should not allow that to be lost on the electorate.

If we don't acknowledge it it will happen again. Air America as the ONLY progressive/liberal radio network must help us fight the fight and call attention to this act of stolen democracy.

Air America, you must help the voters understand that the results of the election were a fraud and that they must remember that and take it to the polls in 2004.

Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 05:50 PM by redqueen
Right now we have LESS than SEVEN months to try to implement safeguards.

We need to directly address state elections officials and try to win over the minds of those with the power to do something to prevent any possible ballot tampering.

It's so late, though... I get depressed thinking about it. :(
