One week later: Franken has improved dramatically

In one of the original threads discussing the O'Franken Factor I complained at how bored I was and how slow moving the show was. I was even accused of being a freeper in disguise. But here we are, a week later, and I think it sounds good, its snappier,its funnier. All around good.

13. It only annoys you

because you hear it so well, because no one else is laughing.

He's a lot more informed and quicker on his feet than I thought he would be, but his comedy sketchs are as bad as his worst SNL stuff. That Deep Throat routine was awful, and would be fatal if he does it more often. He did something else today that was just as bad.

He needs to work on his energy level, too. He's convincing to the convinced, but not confident enough to persuade the fencers. He doesn't need to be spastic, just more... Something.

His improv sense of humor is improving, though, as he relaxes.

Right now he might make it, might not. Needs improvement, not ready for prime time, but not as bad as Chevy Chase, at least not all the time.

Randi is lethal, though. They need a couple more of her.

I like her too. I've read a lot of negative comments about her - her voice, her laugh - but I think she's a good match.

It's his show now.

There's much less handholding from his co-host. When she takes over it sounds too NPR. Franken has his own style which, I think, will work very well in radio. He's a big fan of the old style of radio and a very funny entertainer. I think he has a real sense of what he wants to do with the show and how he intends to do it. I like it a lot.

In fact I like all of the shows I've heard so far but I think my favorite has been majority report. I get to hear the last hour or so each night walking home after some classes I'm taking and I really like it. It's lots of fun and full of useful info, plus that Janeane Garofalo is just the cat's pajamas - wouldn't ya say!

Oh, and Randi Rocks! I listen to her on my way to class!!!

10. I Love This Show...

I listen at noon L.A. time....I can't wait to turn it on. I love it when he calls Rush, GWB, Rummy, etc on their lies and his impressions are hilarious.

I loved yesterday's show where they played tapes of that hypocrite Hannity dissing Clinton and gleefully predicting all manner of horrors during Kosovo, none of which happened. Now he says Kennedy is "unpatriotic" for telling obvious truths about the horrid Iraq situation. LIE LIE LIE!!!! LIAR!!
