|
the war in Iraq was not destined to follow the script of a cowboy movie of Bush's youth...

|
"The President blundered when he took us into Iraq without reason!" "It is OUR 600 and more who are paying the awful price for this administration's' blunder."
Oh is he tearing it up! I love him when he is like this.

Increasing the troop presence in Iraq will suck us deeper into the mailstrom and quicksand of violance.

| 17. Where should we look for leadership? Here in the Senate??? |
|
The Senate has reluctant to take a look at the reality of Iraq. They have been cowed into silence. Where are the senators on this issue???

| 18. The senators that dare to speak out are called "unpatriotic" and |
|
no better than the terrorist themselves. This republic was founded in part because of the arrogance of a King who expected his subjects to do what they were told without questions. In this republic questioning is a requirement.

No cable here and I don't see this speech on his website, so a big thanx for posting some of his comments here.
Most of the rest of the Senate should be shamed for being afraid to speak the truth like Byrd does.
Here is a real patriot in action.

if any one of the Senators who wanted to be President had spokne even half as passionately as Byrd did back in our darkest days, I'd have been an avid supporter. But they were too busy checking the polls and playing it safe.
