| Anyone else hear Kerry on NPR this morning? |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 07:21 AM by Luvpurp
This guy will mop the floor with Bush in a "real" debate. If I was Bush's handlers I would think long and hard about agreeing to debate at all.
oops I mis-spelled "hear" the first time, I wouldn't want to be "mis-underestimated"

| 3. Kerry Wanted to Talk Economy/Jobs |
|
Bob seemed to be fixated on Iraq and Condeleeza Rice. Then when Kerry wanted to talk about his plans to create 10 million new jobs, Bob wanted to talk about the "glowing" job numbers from the past month. Kerry put those numbers in perspective, though.

|
he said that the "fixed" handover date in Iraq is an absolute mistake. he said that you hand over leadership of a sovereign nation when it is ready to handle it, not some arbitrary date for political gain, he also added it is due to Bushco's arrogant handling of foreign policy that Iraq is going down the tubes.
Kerry was awesome and really on his game.

Favorite Part:
Q: Before we talk about jobs, National Security Advisor Condeleeza Rice is scheduled to testify before the 9/11 commission this week. What do you hope to hear from her?
Kerry: The truth.
(EXTREMELY long pause)
Q: Which is?

| 4. I listened; Kerry was polished and literate... |
|
We have to change this countries leadership just to promote literacy. Our children should be able to hear a president speak thoughtfully and in complete sentences.
Four years of phrases is too much.

a couple of days ago, I went to a gas station and the cashier says in a typical Florida sentence, "Sometimes it do, sometimes it don't." I'm so tired of our young adults getting through education systems uneducated.

I was still half asleep and didn't hear Bob Edwards intro, so I didn't know who it was he was talking to. I was laying there saying to myself, who is this guy, he's really kicking W's butt? The Edwards asked him what he thought Condi should tell the 9-11 Commission and since I talk to inanimate objects I yelled, the TRUTH. Then a second later, this fellow said, the TRUTH. Edwards was stunned into a few moments of silence.
When he said he had actually called Edwards to talk about the economy, I began to realize that it was indeed John Kerry. I hope he keeps this up, because Kerry will easily wipe the floor with W.
It makes me even happier that I put that Kerry sticker on my car this weekend.

NPR's audience is hardly the "already converted", as far as Kerry and Dems are concerned. Once upon a time it may have been so, but not now.

You can listen to NPR's Morning Edition on their website the next day. So, today's show will be on the site tomorrow. It was a good interview. Kerry looks better every day.

| 10. They kept advertising his talk yesterday: to be all about getting out of |
|
Iraq."Widest possible consensus and coalition, least risk to American troops, least cost to American taxpayer."
Sounded awful, like we DIDN'T OWE THE IRAQIS ANYTHING for reconstruction of the dameage WE caused and the innocents killed, like we are going to get out ON THE CHEAP.
I hope his statement on the program was better and they just clipped things out of context, but, really, we OWE the Iraqis whatever we can do to RESTORE things and people.Otherwise, it IS just cut and run.
Kucinich's plan to pay reparations to the families of those innocents killed and wounded really has moral authority behind it. We bombed a house with 25 people in it today. How many of those were innocents? What if ALL of them were innocents, and they just happened to live near the fighting?

Although I was always rooting for someone farther left I have to say that I think Kerry does a good job of handling the media and of making his points without coming off as a horse's ass. I especially liked his answers to the line about Condi's testimony. Which, for those not listening, went like this:
BOB: What are you hoping to hear from Condileeza Rice's testimony tomorrow? KERRY: The truth. (pause) BOB: Which would be? KERRY: Well, I don't know, because she's contradicted herself so much already...
Made me optimistic about his chances.

What a relief.
And he mentioned Bush*s thirty-day August 2001 vacation -- just snuck it in while talking about their handling of 9-11. Love it.
I also liked Bob's final statement about "Morning Edition has a request pending to interview President Bush." The effect was great. It doesn't take much to imagine the botch Bush would make of an interview like that. And the fact that he never does interviews -- his handlers wouldn't let him even if he wanted to.

on Bu$h's behavior and reactions on the morning of 9-11, when the COMMANDER IN CHIEF of the USA, thought reading a book about goats was more important than responding to an ongoing terrorist attack.

I tuned in a little bit after the beginning so I didn't here who it was. Because I haven't heard John Kerry speak too much I did not recognize his voice. The things he was saying I thought it was someone else, because everything this person said was right on target. Everything I wanted to hear. And then at the end Bob Edwards says thank you Senator for speaking with us blah blah blah. I had a smile so big on my face I could barely contain myself. This is the man that is going to bring the US out of the brink of darkness and end this facist roller coaster we've been on.

maybe because he was on the phone to Edwards This is a good thing frankly. I think he needs to work on his delivery when he's giving speeches. The way he sounded on the phone is along the lines of what would be good.

|
...that this is an indication that he "doesn't know who he is."
that he bends with political winds, that he has no "immovable core," that he is not a "regular guy," and on and on and on ad nauseum.
And then some loser like Candy Crowley will do a special feature comparing tapes of Kerry before and after he worked on his spoken deliver.
Never mind, of course, the ridiculous, quick evolution of GWB's faux-Texas accent, and issue which has never received play in any mainstream media I've seen.
