Casualty numbers are likely higher because only confirmed deaths are included. Non-combat deaths include accidents, friendly fire incidents, suicides and incidents unrelated to fighting.
The Pentagon stopped issuing figures for non-hostile injuries to U.S. Forces on April 1, 2004. It also began issuing reports of wounded once a week, rather than daily, on that date.
U.S.Combat deaths: 429 (314)
Total wounded: 2,998
Non-combat deaths: 191 (168)
Total injured (until Apr. 1, 2004): 441

Troops in IraqThere are currently 130,000 troops in Iraq. The plan is to cut that to 105,000 next year. The United Kingdom has at least 10,000 soldiers in Iraq, and plans to send another 1,200. The U.S. says these countries also have troops there: Turkey, Australia, Poland, Japan, Spain, South Korea, France, Philippines, Germany, Thailand, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Italy, Pakistan, Portugal, India and Russia.
