election, and the election is called off, what will you do? Noticed on Buzzflash, this possibililty is being raised.
Remember, we had presidential elections during the civil war- when over 600,000 Americans died.
There is no excuse for not having elections, but Bush tries to pull the unfathomable, what will you do?
Maybe we ought to start a contingency plan here on DU on what to do. Do we take to the streets? What?
I am now to the point of believing this is a possiblity given what has happend the last three years.

I'm not to flattered with the two party system anyways, it's archaic. And the country proved in 2000 that it really doesn't care that its vote matters.
To be fair, I'm not patriotic or nationalistic in any sense though.

| 2. Election can't be postponed or called off |
|
It's in the Constitution.
And it wasn't called off during the Civil War, WWII, Korea or Vietnam.
Nice try, Bushies.

The election shouldn't be postponed or called off but it could be done by this gang.

DU is not the place to put together contingency plans on a matter of this kind. Doncha know this place is watched? Oolkay itay.
Red dog barks are moon. Bright spear waves in the foggy morning sunlight. Daytrippers tumble down the myriad market ways. Bablefish required/42.

Bush can try to do anything he wants.
On the other hand though, even Scalia and Rehnquist would be up in arms, and when that happens, look to Bush getting 6% of the vote...

After all, it was Scalia who said citizens do not have the guaranteed right to suffrage.

We all know what happend in Spain, but I highly doubt that outcome will occure.
Im sad to say we would be powerless, It would swing the polls way in favor of GW. Lets hope this doesn't happen

It most likely would have the opposite effect on Americans then it did on the people of Spain. The Spanish were strong in their resolve to reject Aznar and his decision to disregard the people and go with Bush, but we'd just crumble and bow to our "wartime" resident. If this administration knows nothing else, they certainly know how to capitalize on and promote fear.

There are too many computer voting systems in place. The arrogance of the malAdministration leads me to believe the fix is in.
If, however, their hackers and programmers fail, and Dems hit big in elections for Congressional seats, THEN duck and cover.
How is the movement going... the one to allow governors to appoint Senators and Congressmen in case some event knocks out the US congress. There was sure lots of energy put into making sure California got a GOP governor.
Have they found out who mailed the anthrax, the anthrax that was mailed to Dem congressmen only?

And I'm not kidding !!! These clowns need a wake up call, and if they ever pulled some kind of stunt like cancelling an election, maybe a very, very rude public display of "extreme civil disobedience" will put these dorks in their place-- which would probably be cheneys' hidey-hole.

There''s nothing like taking something away to make it meaningful. "You don't know what you've got till it's gone."
Might get some tea dumped in the harbor, too.
