A plea for civility

We are about to live through some trying times in this country. We have an unpopular war, high unemployment, and a hot summer fast approaching. This combination leads to civil unrest in the USA. I have witnessed it before. It is not a pleasant thing to live through. I am hoping like hell something will happen to avoid what is coming to our country, but I am afraid that is not in the cards.

So the very least we can do is be decent with each other here at DU. I have noticed that tempers have become short around here. Including mine. So lets all take a deep breath and be decent to one another. Think before hitting the Post Message button. I promise I will. Again, hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

5. Civil unrest seems to be the only way to affect change in America.

Just look at our history. Hopefully all here on DU will be on the same side. I hate to admit it, but i'm mad as hell & ain't gonna take it anymore! I am just waiting for an excuse to pounce on a Freeper!

just because we are informed and care doesn't mean the rest of America is.
The overwhelming majority of Americans are zombies who neither know what is going on, or even have the level of passion in any belief to take to the streets.
