this is making me SICK to my stomach

I was THERE that day, in DC

I marched alongside Veterans for Peace, amongst whom was counted Daniel Ellsberg, himself a Vietnam veteran, protesting both the incipient war, and the heinous treatment by Bush and his congressional minions

my dad, btw, spent the last nine years of his life in a VA hospital, all during the Reagan/Bush years, in which the facilities and staffing deteriorated steadily

god only knows what it's like now, but with them cutting everything they possibly can, I can only wonder, and despair for those who serve, then take it up the you know what as their compensation

one hopes that things might change, with a real soldier in the WH

oh....speaking of sick-making, guess who threw out the first ball at the Cubs-Reds opener today?

hint: he had other priorities a few years back, when it was HIS turn

4. thanks......the first one hit me very hard
because of my father, and because I was in DC when the war started, AND I was watching CSPAN while they voted to gut the Veterans' appropriation

the March stopped at the VA admin building, not far from the WH, and there were some very moving speeches made, by veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the first Gulf War

I'm really feeling ill right now, thinking about that, and the miasma that's congealing in Iraq now, all the poisonous emotions roiling just beneath the surface, waiting to explode in the world's face

WHEN are people going to wake up to the fact that we have MONSTERS running our government?

Oh, I forgot.....most people won't, thanks to our fourth estate
