Just imagine how Germans must have felt after the WAR2
those that actually voted for Hitler? Guilt/shame/embarrassment

How will those that voted for Bush feel in a couple of Years? If not now? And to avoid those shameful moments, they actually want him to be successful and win this next election.

1. I know several Germans and Russians who supported Hitler and Stalin
Interesting responses to my inquiries on what they think now of what happened back then:

- First, they all tell of their remorse. Usually, it's very sincere.
- They all say that MANY more of their countrymen were avid supporters than is apparent today. Many of these people simply go around as average citizens, which they are.
- They almost all, when prompted, remember the time with great fondness. It was a time of national euphoria. (Remember, detractors were silenced. Also, any of the people I know were necessarily young at the time...generally teenagers.)
- They all acknowledge the err in judgement on their own part, and it is generally a very personal admission which stems from a very personal reality, as most of them were hurt by the effects of these corrupt leaders.

Every American should WANT to learn about these things, at a time like this. (If, that is, they are unaware of lessons learned.)

4. Its not too late, even if our own Prez does not read and learn history
The History channel is doing a good job so far. much to be learned there.

Too many corrupt leaders got a taste of power and decided not to give it up. The Followers support him or die. Bush shows signs of following the Path.

Come, we go eat fish and poi, no forget da pipikaula.

6. Hitler wasn't elected
Edited on Mon Apr-05-04 11:45 AM by Jim__
When he first came to power, it was through back-room dealing. Stalin wasn't elected either - at least not legitimately. Of course, Bush wasn't elected either, so ...

But the Germans had some excuse, the country was being destroyed by the Treaty of Versailles. Most Germans believed that they had been on the verge of winning WWI when they were betrayed.

The Russians can be excused for overthrowing the czar. That the Bolsheviks took power was really beyond their control.

But Bush??? What excuse do fat, rich Americans have for embracing Bush and his imperialistic policies? I think history will judge America far more harshly than either Germany or Russia.

7. Smart people know how to set up a system to prevent Empire Building
Bush is in range of accomplishing his empire. America needs to wake up and smell that Kona Coffee... then drink copious amounts.

Where O Where is that strong Visine? Double dose will do.

9. I think, if Bush* loses, history will forgive the US. But, if he gets...
elected, this country is sunk historically for at least 100 years, and it will take a major act of selflessness (like WWII - kinda) to redeem herself.
