Not that I'm sticking up for Scott Walker. Far from it. Still voting for Reimer.
But we as DUers should not be in the business of throwing out unproven rumors. We are above that. That story sounds a little absurd this close to election day, especially with a heavy African-American turnout expected (coming out for Marvin Pratt, who's dominating the north side polls).
What should be talked about, though, is that David Reimer seems to know how to allocate and shift money, without the typical machete approach of Scott Walker. In other words, he won't slash vital services to bring down property taxes (a key issue this year).
But as far as passing around rumors, regardless of the candidate, without a backup link, is irresponsible. And I checked the Journal-Sentinel site, as well as channels 6, 12, and even 58 (ch. 4 is owned by the J-S, and their sites have virtually the same content, so I didn't bother). Also checked out Shepherd Express, the left-leaning weekly. No luck there.
Here is the Shepherd Express cover story link with their endorsements:
http://www.shepherd-express.com/shepherd/25/14/cover_story.htmlThey like Barrett and Reimer.
And the J-S endorsements:
http://www.jsonline.com/news/election2004/endorsements-april.aspThey also like Barrett, but also endorse Walker. They have glowing words for Reimer, but don't feel enough reason to get rid of Walker.
Still, I'm voting straight Dem ticket this year. Where as I may have voted for a token Repug in previous years (if he was good), the GOP has irritated me to my breaking point. They will not get my vote for any of their candidates this year, local, state or national.
Still, no reason we should all be crying "fire" in a crowded movie house.
