BBV: another Senator cospsonsors Voter Confidence Act. What you can do.
Please contact your Senator to support "The Voter Confidence Act," S.1980, which tries to prevent elections from being rigged.

"The Voter Confidence Act" requires voter-verified paper ballots to be printed by electronic voting machines and stored for possible recounts.

The bill is sponsored by Bob Graham of Florida, and cosponsored by:
Sen Hollings, Ernest F. - 4/1/2004
Sen Lautenberg, Frank R. - 3/25/2004
Sen Nelson, Bill - 2/23/2004
Sen Schumer, Charles E. - 2/23/2004

Please call your Senators (if you're not in Florida) and ask them to cosponsor.

Free phone call with:
1-800-839-5276

sample phone words:

Hello, may I speak to the office of Senator _____?
<call transferred>
Hello, may I speak to someone about a voting-rights bill?
<call transferred>
Hello, I'd like to leave a message for Senator ____ to cosponsor the Voter Confidence Act, S.1980, to protect our voting rights. The right to vote is meaningless unless the integrity of the process is protected.

What did you put in your letter?

Touch Screen Voting Machines: All Aspects Must Be Verifiable

Touch screen voting systems must have two elements:
1.Software that is not proprietary and is openly reviewable.
2.A verifiable paper audit trail.

Many systems do not have these two elements, and it is like blind-faith voting if they do not.

We must have a way to recount. That is a part of our country, a vote that counts. This should no longer be a partisan topic because all parties will and can be affected if voting is not reliable.

HR 2239 would require voting machines to use publicly reviewed software. It would require voter verifiable paper audit trails for all e-voting machines.

I can see no reason why anyone could object to these things in order to ensure fair elections. Urge your elected officials in the House to support this bill.

Sen. Bob Graham is sponsoring an important bill in the Senate, and Sen. Bill Nelson is co-sponsoring it. It also demands a voter-verified trail. It is S 1980. We need to thank them for that...."

7. Have You Seen the Combo Bill Yet?
I heard that Graham, Boxer, and Clinton were combining bills. Got a link to that bill?

8. The combo bill hasn't been introduced in the Senate.
The combo bill announced on March 10, 2004, "The RECORD Act," hsn't been introduced in the Senate.

I doubt it's on the internet.

Senator Bob Graham wants to protect voters, as evidenced by "The Voter Confidence Act," S.1980.

Senator Hillary Clinton wants to protect every voting company, as evidenced by the loophole bill she introduced.

I'm skeptical they can create a combo bill together which BOTH protects voters and lets every voting company use a loophole to avoid doing anything.
