Interesting note re: Condi testimony . . .
"In a reversal, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice will testify in public under oath before the commission investigating the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks as long as the panel seeks no further public testimony from White House officials, the administration said Tuesday."

and

"The decision was conditioned on the Bush administration receiving assurances in writing from the commission that such a step does not set a precedent and that the commission does not request "additional public testimony from any White House official, including Dr. Rice," White House counsel Alberto Gonzales said in a letter to the panel. "

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&e=1&u=/ap/20040330/ap_on_re_us/sept_11_commission

Basically, the conditions that the Whitehouse is putting on her testimony mean that the Commission can NOT request testimony from any other Whitehouse official. That means the Commission can't call Powell, Rumsfeld, Rove, Wolfowitz or any other official if they agree to these terms.

It's a CON people.

5. And they say Bush has nothing to hide.
:eyes:

I think that every member of that administration should testify publicly under oath. After all, this is a special case, right???

6. Where is the outrage?!
The White House is actively trying to avoid the 9/11 commision. It's obvious. Why aren't people crazy angry over the fact that the White House doesn't want to get to the bottom of 9/11?

9. I would like some clarification
There is a difference between White House advisors, such as condosleeza, and officials that are in the cabinet and/or needed to be confirmed by the senate. I am thinking this may apply only to advisors such as rove, rice, mcclellan, etc. Not to rummy, wolfowitless, powell.

I am not sure of the rules but apparently the commission has/had no problem calling officials that required senate confirmation and there was no dispute that their testimony would be under oath, it's the president's staff of advisors that he can invoke executive priveledge on.

10. It Won't Matter Much
She has contradicted herself a number of times and the whole mis- administration has yet to get their story straight. Besides, it'll be perjuries testimony in front of an indifferent committee who isn't all that bright anyway.

Love those pictures of Quinn.
Sorry, I got off topic looking at the cat pictures.

Is the White House going to provide the questions so that they can be asked in an ambiguous way to keep her from lying when she gives her memorized answers?

12. See this thread--
Let's create some careful questions that the White House doesn't want to answer:

14. I think this is a set up
See this from the article:

Subject to the conditions, the president will agree "to the commission's request for Dr. Rice to testify publicly regarding matters within the commission's statutory mandate," Gonzales' letter said.

She will ONLY testify on matters withing the commission's narrow mandate. It wouldn't surprise me if the commissioners had to submit their questions to gonzales beforehand to make sure they meet those parameters.

It means Condi can lie her brains out and there will be no opportunity to call others to see if her story corroborates! Damned Republicans weasel their ways out of everything!
