My "Repug" Inhofe Loving "House Guests" left this afternoon and all I
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 09:30 PM by KoKo01
have to say is that, they aren't happy with Bush.

I have to "bite" around the edges with these guests, because they are relatives of mine and so I go out of my way to be "nicey nice" and serve good food and entertain them to the max with my best "Ms. Martha Home Stuff" but, that's because I'm of a generation who uses "napkin holders and does great "theme stuff" for my food servings.

But...my impression from these "fundie religious" (eye for an eye and Bush is God because he finally dropped bombs on "AMERIKA's" threats folks) is that they still think Bush has run us into BIG/HUGE Deficits...and that they are "sort of" uncomfortable about 9/11 and and Iraq Invasion and Bush...but they see the Dems as "part of the problem."

When asked why "Democrats are part of the problem" if it was Bush who did all this, the answer from my Repug/Fundie relatives is: Well...we don't see a difference in the Democrats because they had Clinton. And we don't think Clinton understood how Bush believes in the Bible."

 There wasn't much more I could ask these folks or confront them with after they said: "Bush believes in the Bible," without getting into a "war of words" with them. I couldn't do that because I needed to maintain a peace....but OMG...it's so hard to deal with this stuff.

I just had to vent here, since they left to get my sense of balance back... ????

1. I may have missed something
But, between Camp David and the Ranch, you do not see Bush going to Church, but as I remember, almost every Sunday would be an AP photo of President Clinton going to a church.

It's so true. When was the last time we saw the Chimp and his Laura at a service??? I guess they take care of "that stuff" with their infamous "Prayer Breakfasts" in the White House....but OMG...compared to what I had visiting me...who don't notice...what can one say about this?? UGh!!!!!!:nuke:

3. sounds like your relatives
are related to mine. Same church any way. We cope by not telling them anything. They are so busy with the church they dont have time to think anyway.

5. Isn't it awful?
I'm having to stay away from people and boards who support * nowadays because my temper keeps flaring up, which is uncomfortable.

How incredibly wishy-washy can people be? "The Dems are part of the problem...."

What problem would that be?

Oh. Clinton didn't understand how important the Bible is to Bush? That's the problem.

I'm going ballistic again. I need to take a nice soothing bath....

P.S. Congratulations for being an excellent host in the face of incredible provocation. I admire you!

6. I personally don't care if a President is religious or not
To me, my President can be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Atheist or whatever. Just as long as the President doesn't go pushing religion, or sending in missionaries to a country we just destroyed he won't have a problem with me.

9. Ain't that the truth....why is this all into the mix? That I have to have
relatives visit and maintain a "silence" while they spout what they are all "about." But, I show them a "good time" and shut my mouth.. and then they go off and "do their thing."

Something isn't fair about this. I didn't show them my DU files on what Bush Mis-Administation is about and I have three file drawers chocked full of stuff.

Only thing I can say, as I said in my post is that they have big "doubts about Bush getting a second term."

My saddness is that I had to listen to their barf while they draw their conclusions on their own...and I'm still pissed over the 2000 Selection and don't want to confront them about it..

Maybe the RW/Fundies (and they are true RW Christian/Armageddonists) will come to their own conclusions about "deficits, wars, and other stuff that BFEE has done) and I can just sit back and not confront and keep the "family" together. Meaning my "own" fragile family relationships given that I am "definitely" the MAVERICK! sigh.....:-(

12. Just to make clear: "They aren't voting for Bush...." for other reasons
than Bible... Maybe we should be happy about this in some way...I'm not sure what way, but that's why I posted in GD instead of Lounge.

Even the "Fundie/Bible Toting" folks are having BIG doubts about the Chimp. And, I didn't have to even open my "big mouth" about this, but tried to be "meek and docile" and just listen to them.

They DO NOT LIKE BUSH...But...then again..do I really want them on our side...I don't know... They don't know what they like or dislike unless the Bible tells them so...but they DON'T like BUSH.

Does this mean there's hope?

8. You are so much nicer than me.
First, they wouldn't have gotten napkin holders from me, but order out pizza and beer. I'm an old woman and I can't do any fancy enteraining anymore.

If anyone had mentioned Bush believing in the Bible, even if I did believe in it, I would have kicked them out.

13. I just today got a letter from Inhofe. Lemme see if it's still in the
trash can...

Yeah, here it is:

"Thank you very much for your correspondence expressing your concern
over the Federal Marriage Amendment (I had sent him a BLISTERING letter demanding he oppose it) "It is good to hear from you. The problems you describe are indeed important and deserve review (translation: I don't give a rat'ss ass what you think) I very much appreciate (does he pronounce it "prish-ate"?) you sharing your opinions with me regarding these matters."

There is a bit more fluff bullshit, but that pretty much covers this goddamned bastard's response to a constituent.

I am working on another letter.
:grr:

16. One of my relatives/guests loves Inhofe because he builds his own planes
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 11:00 PM by KoKo01
and he is a pilot looking to build his own plane and admires Inhofe who's such a creep to me (partial birth abortion law and dreadful Environmental record) that I had to hold my tongue just to get through the discussion about Inhofe and sons who are such "examples of family values" that he and his sons build their own planes and fly around Oklahoma on the campaign trail!

(this was in an American Airline magazine, which guest showed me)

14. You have TRUE family values, Koko
and it's a pity those who proclaim their family values and piety can't see that "spouting" their dogma is not what it's about. It takes real effort like you were willing to put forth. I salute you and you deserve recognition.

Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 10:51 PM by TankLV
If I'm in someone else's home, and they mention things, I never say anything - I'm a good guest.

But, if some asshole is a guest in MY home, and starts spouting all their lies and other garbage, they are certainly going to get a blistering earfull from me and I will never stop!

That is just rude of them.

If they can't keep their crap to themselves, and they don't wish to hear my truthful retorts to their lies, they will be shown the door, pronto!

I will NOT tolerate that in my home.

Luckily, any repuke friends or relatives I have know my viewpoints, and we seldom bring up politics - and we actually have a pretty good time.

Sometimes, THEY volunteer their displeasure in the thugs that have taken control of OUR government, and I just smile and say nothing also. No need to kill the golden opportunity of a new convert. It must be horrible to have your entire belief system prooven a fraud, so I cut them major slack. Absolutely NO COMMENT. They are suffering enough already.

17. Next time, tell them...
It is impossible to honor God with lies. Then start listing *'s lies. Start with the big ones. If they mention Clinton's adultery tell them about the law of proportionality--the more often a subject is spoken about, the higher its importance in honoring God. The Bible speaks for more often about the way we treat the poor and those without a voice in society than it does about adultery/fornication. Point out the disdain that the Bush administration has for the poor. Of course, they would know all of this if they weren't so biblically illiterate.

18. At one point....I broke down and said "But, Jesus was a liberal.."
and was met with howls of laughter..

If they weren't close relatives...I would have blown a fuse, but I thought to myself that America must be going through another series of what seems to be our "Religious Wars" like unto the Salem Witch time, and indeed back to the Puritans....so I will shut my mouth and keep the "peace." But, what I do here wouldn't be revealed...

19. Thanks for ALL of your posts on this thread! How do we survive....I don't
know...we try to do what little we can...but your comments reveal that many of us are out there trying to "keep the peace" while we "work otherwise to do what we can for our own views."

But, OMG, it's so hard when close relatives have to be "in the dark" about our views so we can try to keep our families together. It's very hard times out there...:-(

20. Sure, Bush *claims* to believe in the Bible, but
Jesus said, "By their fruits shall you know them." That is, it's a believer's actions, not just his words, that shows he's a believer.

Ask them, what has Bush *done* that shows he's a Christian?
