"We're all on Clarke patrol" - senior Bush political strategist
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/story/177057p-154093c.html

One aide said the White House was further blindsided because they never expected 9/11 to be politicized.

This is the most DISGUSTING excuse for an executive branch EVER. There is NO fucking emoticon in the DU arsenal that can adequately show how angry this makes me. That the executive branch has the GALL to show such UTTER CONTEMPT for the country by behaving in such an UGLY, UGLY manner is REPREHENSIBLE. Impeachment is TOO GOOD for them. They have politicized EVERYTHING they touch, they NEVER deal with actual issues, never discuss policy, and DELIBERATELY continue to drive a WEDGE deeper and deeper into the fabric of this nation.

4. uh ... I believe they were the ones who politicized it from the get go
like .... using it as an excuse to attack Iraq for instance?

using it in campaign commercials?

shamelessly exploiting it every chance they got?

2. "they never expected 9/11 to be politicized."
In other words, they never expected to be held to account for their (at least) major dereliction of duty.

It gives me wonderful hope, somehow, to think that they can be this blind, this wrapped up in their own twisted little view of the world. Maybe they just mean that they never expected their bought-and-owned press to turn on them to the point of giving any airspace to these discomforting truths.

6. Distraction, they call it...
"We had Kerry on the run, and now we have to deal with this distraction."

These cold blooded bastards. The 9/11 Commission is a mere distraction. Forget about the right of the American Public to know what happened that day, all they care about is how Chimpy's reselection campaign is harmed by the truth coming to light.

7. Oh, THAT's a good one.
"The White House" began politicizing September 11 on September 12. *I* remember that fucking 'budget message' (the thing that looked just like a State of the Union Address, but wasn't) in which Bush stood up there and declared World War III, even if nobody else does.

"Politicize" is actually too weak a term for what they did to 9/11. How about 'exploit'? 'Abuse'? 'Betray'? Fold, spindle, mutilate?

:argh:
