This morning Imus...
... who is the first "major" media person to endorse Kerry, openly challenges Condi Rice to testify before the 9-11 Commission. He notes that she is able to go on every "talk show" to promote what a simply wonderful job she does, yet lacks the willingness to go on the record when it counts.

2. he has been bashing Bush et al. a lot lately and does endorse Kerry
He says it like it is.
I know he is a curmudgeonly old dried out alcoholic but I still like him. He does not hesitate to admit when he is wrong, as when his wife called the show to say he shouldn't have bashed somebody because he was just offbase about that person (can't remember the details but she gave facts to support her case) and he very sincerely apologized and was genuinely flustered.

3. Condi will crack.
I am convinced that she is experiencing a crisis in confidence in that which she is doing. While I recognize she is a war criminal, I think she may be alone in the upper levels of the administration as far as having a conscience. I imagine that both her minister and her psychiatrist are reminding her that "the truth will set you free," while the administration is saying the truth will put us in hot water. She will betray the president. That is why she isn't testifying. The administration knows it, and more important, Condi knows they know it.

4. He's chickenhawk to the bone. Another wet finger in the
wind clown who I think will eventually end up supporting Monkeynuts.

11. Just plain wrong
"He's chickenhawk to the bone."

Both Don and Fred were in the military. Fred was a paratrooper. I can not recall what Don was.
Chickenhawks did NOT serve in any capacity. Or like Bush and Quayle had strings pulled to get them into the guard, safely out of harms way.
While Imus supported the war, as did Hillary Clinton ( Democratic chickenhawk?), Bernie did not.

16. Wrong?
The New Hampshire Gazette...

The alleged "gentlemen" listed in this database are here because they share three qualities: bellicosity (a warlike manner or temperament), public prominence, and a curious lack of WARTIME service when others their age had no trouble finding the fight. (Sorry, Dan and George W. and Dan Q. – your safe, cushy National Guard slots won't help you now.) The fact that they's almost all Republicans is . . . well, curious, don't you think?

20. i didn't say he wasn't in danger
i don't apply the same meaning to the word chickenhawk as some do. for instance, learning to fly a jet is dangerous yet some people see it as safe duty.

imus was a fully trained marine and that, as you point out, is also a feat that exposes one to danger. but he didn't face combat. he played in the marine band.

13. Not so
Both Imus brothers served in the military.
So they are not Chickenhawks.
If your criteria is war support then Hillary, and Edwards are Chickenhawks as well. Neither served and both supported the war.

8. actually, Imus will help Kerry
It's true that Imus is very unlikely to announce that he has seen the light, and is handing the reins of power of his show over to this forum. (Even if he did, he'd likely still tell jokes like the powerball one.) However, since the d.u. is remarkably unlikely to reach the audience that Imus does, and since that audience is made up largely of uncommitted/undecided voters, perhaps we can see Imus' recent shows in a positive light. And, while I think what he is doing is admirable, I hope d.u.ers do not copy his ability to focus on the negative aspects of everything. Let's be positive!

"last week, he cracked himself up with "john kerry just left his wife for the latest powerball winner""

Bill Maher pointed out that Kerry was bourgeoisie enough to marry TWO rich white women.
