I'd love to shock'n awe people in my Repub town with DU'ing this poll:
http://www.thevictoriaadvocate.com/

Right hand column, it is surprisingly close for Victoria County Texas. Lots of Bush donors here.

Which presidential candidate is better apt at handling terrorism?
President George Bush 52%
Sen. John Kerry 41%
Both can handle it sufficiently 1%
Neither can handle it sufficiently 3%
Someone other than Kerry or Bush 2%
Don't care 0%
Total votes: 602

You only get one vote.

1. I voted once, but kept getting "YOU HAVE ALREADY VOTED" messages
???!

I clicked once.

But the browser kept clicking on its own. x( I should have viewed the page source before closing the window, to see if there was a reload command...

I've never been able to vote more than once on their online polls. But I thank you for making the difference on this one.

The right-wingers here are always screaming about abortion and contraception and sex ed. They write really nasty letters that insult Dems but never make any valid defense of their political position. Everything is still Bill Clinton's P's fault.

Yeah right. People who feel safer after all what Bush has done are either lying or outright idiots. I am from Wichita Falls, TX and have to deal with the whole repug BS. My anti-Bush bumper stickers always raise lots of eyebrows.

The CNN poll asking if we are safer from terrorism because of the Iraq war is at 67% saying no.

8. It's so tiring, isn't it?
Putting up with this mentality all the time? And it is such simple-minded bs.

My repug aunt and uncle are in the panhandle and are always sending me old "Bush = Jesus" -type stuff that i have to debunk with Snopes. I try not to get ugly about it because my aunt is my late mom's sister, so it is out of respect for my mom.

But sometimes I am surprised that quite a few people hate Bush
People I've never suspected. Some people are just afraid of saying that openly. And I know that taken the whole of America (actually the whole world), I am in the majority.

Its just a problem if you go to a car repair shop with three anti-Bush bumper stickers. You never know if some "extra" charges are because I dared to use my freedom of speech rights and insulted their King.

40. On-line polls are pretty inaccurate
Especially when they allow you to see how everyone else voted BEFORE you vote - like this Victoria Advocate poll - and like the ones on DU.

How much effort would it take to design polling software which doesn't display the results until AFTER you vote??

Why don't any of the programmers think of this simple fact?

There is no point DUing a local poll.

I can see voting in a CNN or other major poll. But DU a local poll which very few know about? What do we gain? We are no different than freepers. I want to see the real numbers locally.

52/41 for Bush is pretty good in a small Texas town.

I would rather let the locals vote and get an idea of what is happening out there. Information should be used, not abused.
