If I were an evil genius (The Osama bin Laden Capture Product Roll-Out)
*******(Keep in mind that I don't believe that these things are connected or happened this way. I'm merely drawing out an imaginative scenario, like one you'd see in a bad spy novel.)*******

December, 2003: An operations group in the US government confirms the location of Osama bin Laden and his main deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri. The product roll-out happens in the following stages:

1. Production begins on advertisements for Bush-Cheney '04 citing the September 11 attacks. The producing parties should not be concerned about any adverse reactions to the advertisements, since these will only serve to bring the Septmeber 11 events to people's minds, and lodge them there for what will follow.

2. A product teaser will be implemented in Madrid, Spain, one to two weeks prior to product roll-out. The teaser should be significant enough to lodge the product in the target-market's consciousness and create emotional hype.

3. Release of Predator Drone advertising campaign (call Lisa Myers over at NBC). Emulate news story!!! Goal of the advertisment: Focus attention on 1) Product and 2) Ineffectiveness of competition (i.e., inability of previous producers to effectively deliver product). Advertisement roll-out should occur 1 week - 3 days before product roll-out to amplify hype and get eyeballs on product in final push before release.

4. Product roll-out maximum effective date (COINCIDE WITH PREVIOUS PRODUCT RELEASE!!!): Mid-March. Releasing product to coincide with previous product release will firmly cement the brand in target markets mind, and most effectively sell both products as a single package (synergy, people!). Use drawn out release procedures (numerous teasers, overnight process geared for maximum exposure). Product roll-out period should last between 1 and 2 days. Line up promoters for constant coverage!!!

5. Final Product Release: First day of Spring or thereabouts (hook up with general improving emotional dynamic).

2. It sounds about right but
wouldn't the maximum effective rollout date be closer to the election? With the Republican's penchant for exploiting the public's emotion one would think the longer they can draw it--say till late October--the better for them, IMO.

3. March is optimum date
That will allow lead time for a commercial blitz during the summer immediately preceeding the Democratic Convention.
